Book Redeemed Novels & Stories

"Good, now let's focus on what's important." I nodded, my mind already shifting gears as I thought about the work ahead. Georgia was right, I needed to stay focused and take care of business. I watched as she poured herself a glass of whiskey and sat down across from me, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "I have great news for you," she said, taking a sip of her drink. "The profits from our latest shipment have exceeded expectations, and the new business ventures we've invested in are paying off in a big way."

Since I’m going to be Astrid’s mom forever, I figure I’ll need all that information, so I’d better get the book. I get to the check-out area, and there’s a redheaded lady there with glasses staring at her computer. She looks up when I plop the heavy book on the counter. “Sorry,” she says. “That’s a reference book, so we can’t check those out. You’re welcome to read it here.” “Oh,” I say. “Sorry.” “No problem,” she says, then she goes back to staring at her computer screen.

He waved back, blew me a kiss, and told me he'll see me soon before bringing the car to life and driving off. I sighed contentedly and smiled. I have a good feeling about the Matching. I have a good feeling about Finn, and how we would most likely get Matched. I trodded back to the bookstore where I work, lunch bag in hand. "I'm sorry we don't have a copy of that book anymore, Mrs. Salazar. But we have new arrivals you might be interested in," I heard Madi tell a middle-aged woman with hawk-like eyes and black curls in a practiced politeness as I slid behind the register, tucking away the bag.

At the beverage station, a guy orders a double bourbon as I fill two glasses with apple juice, yikes. "Rhode look how many books there are on here! It's like a mini a****n!" Amelia tells me as I sit down next to her with our drinks. She's managed to set it up mostly and is now browsing through the store. "This is really great, thank you so much" She presses her lips against mine softly before her fingers are back to scrolling through the pages. I just watch her for a moment or two as she adds some books to her 'wishlist' before I realise she isn't buying them

I run my hand over it before propping it open. 'How to refine your magic: A Complete Guide'. "Hmmm…" I purse my lips together. Could this actually be the answer to all of my prayers? Gods, I hoped so. Closing the book, I flip the book over. Weirdly enough, there's no barcode on the back of it, nor on the inside cover when I flip it open again. Had someone left this here on accident? I tuck it close to my chest. Well, finder's keepers, right?

"Hi, I need to cancel the wedding scheduled for next month. Please cancel the venue and all vendors. Keep the deposit." Next, I opened the real estate app and contacted the agent who'd been helping us with our house. "Hi, the house is ready to list. I need a cash buyer. Price it ten percent below market. The faster it sells, the better." Then, I booked a one-way ticket to Svalgard, leaving in three days. After finishing everything, I lay on the bed and stared at the ceiling. We'd ring in this New Year together. And after that, Elias' life—his future, his happiness with his family and his ex-girlfriend—would have nothing to do with me.

When my eyes finally flutter open, I find an old copy of Our Story in the bag. I set the T-shirt aside and reach for the book. It’s worn and well-loved. Like it had been read cover to cover many times. I open to the first page. Stamped neatly is a line that says Sutten Mountain Book Exchange If Lost Please Return To… My fingers run over the neatly printed name on the line. Linda Jennings.

I was the biological son the Rhodes family had spent years searching for. Upon our reunion, all I wanted was to feel accepted. I learned to agree with everything they asked of me, no matter how unreasonable it sounded. Whenever they gave me an order, I followed it. I never questioned them. One afternoon, Reagan Rhodes, the boy who had lived as the Rhodes family's son in my absence, glanced at me and snarled in disgust. "You smell awful. Why don't you get inside the sterilization chamber and disinfect yourself?" I turned toward the industrial machine without hesitation. I stepped inside the chamber, closed the door behind me, and started the machine. My mom discovered me before

Tucking the book under one arm, he left the house, locking the door behind him, and made his way back across the street. Marty was working the gift shop register to the left of the door, and he smiled when he saw Brad enter. “Hello, Mr. Storm. Nice to see you again.” “Call me Brad. This is for your husband.” Brad held out the book, and Marty took it, flipping to the title page and reading the inscription. “I can’t thank you enough. Emilio’s going to flip when he sees this.” “I’m in talks with Book Lady to do a reading sometime soon. I’ll let you know when we settle on a date; I’d love to meet your husband.”

A book fell from the second-floor railing. It landed open near Bennett’s feet. The pages fluttered once. Then went still. Bennett bent carefully and looked at it. Her expression tightened. “What is it?” Rory asked. Bennett did not answer immediately. I was beginning to hate that pause. Then she held the book out. It was not a library book. It was a ledger. Old. Bound in dark leather. Every page was covered in names. Some crossed out. Some marked with dates. Some followed by coordinates.
