Two Can Play
I looked at her for a long moment.
"Really," I said. "If a husband cheats, it means something is wrong with his wife."
I tilted my head. "So by your logic, if a wife cheats, it means something is wrong with her husband?"
"I never said that," Elizabeth retorted.
I laughed. It was a genuine laugh, the kind that comes from being presented with something so perfectly constructed in its own wrongness that you almost have to admire it.
"Indeed you did not," I agreed. "But at the very least, I found a lover because my husband found one first. I had a reason, flimsy as you may think it is. What is your excuse, Mrs. Elizabeth Fisher?"
