Lullaby (Fable Saga Book 2)

Lullaby (Fable Saga Book 2)

The ocean, the ravenous salt monster, crouched low on the horizon like some primeval beast with gaping jaws, a menacing frothy green. And the smell. Salt. Seawater, tears and blood. I stumble back a few steps, steadying myself against the twisted trunk of a hemlock tree. As I watch Ben and Lyall and Elliot running towards the ocean, Kitty and Alastaire following behind, it takes all my willpower not to scream at them to get back, to be careful. As if the waves could reach out like giant hands and pluck them right off the beach, like something you’d see in a cartoon or a Pixar movie.

Cheating Mates

Cheating Mates

"Allow me to show the ones that we have available." A young woman emerged from one of the back rooms, holding both of her arms out in an invitation to "please come in." She led us to the section of the building that was in the middle, where there were a lot of shelves lined up. On each shelf were dozens of books and dozens of drawings, and these items covered the entire wall. At each of the room's four corners, there was a single person working at a compact desk that had a chair adjacent to it. This location made me think of bookshelves and shelves of books. She made a gesture toward a bookcase that was situated in the space between two desks. "This is my particular segment. You'll find all

The Black Cliff

The Black Cliff

At high tide, the stones were hidden under the water, and at low tide it was possible to find partially opened shells with pearls. A breeze slid through the window, hit Nocté's cheek with raindrops and stirred the pages of the diary that was lying on her table. The young woman looked at the paper she had written over the night and frowned, remembering every word. What or to whom can a mute tell stories? Only to the sea — with her touches, and paper – with ink. “Many people believe in the happy ending to the story of the little mermaid and her prince, but no one knows what happened after.

The Ocean Dragon's Bride

The Ocean Dragon's Bride

Reflected off the frozen crystals, prisms scattered throughout the room. Ao Shun smirked. His eyes flashed silver, watching the birthmark react to his presence. As he ran his finger across it, it shimmers brighter. Jin An involuntarily moaned, reacting to his touch and their shared fate. Her eyes clenched shut, her hands closing around the material of her hanfu. Her breathing sped up. Her heart throbbed. Leaning close to her ear, his raspy voice teased the small hairs. "I found you. I am Ao Shun. Dragon God of the Ocean. And you are my bride... Jin An."

Pursuing the Reincarnated Empress

Pursuing the Reincarnated Empress

Plus, there was a shelf on the side filled with books but I could not read them because they were written in different writing. Looking at my left side, there was a huge transparent glass where I could see a few trees swaying along in the direction where the wind blew. Getting off the bed as carefully as possible, a small gasp escaped from my mouth when I noticed that behind the trees was a body of water that seemed to have no end. It was like the desert surrounding Oliviland but instead of weak reddish-yellow sands, the dark blue ocean extended beyond the horizon. The human world looked much better in person.

I shook my head at her when she seemed about to butt in. "Most of them have to live by the ocean," said Isaac, "or some large body of water, because like usemi, they have an affinity for an animal ... a sea animal, at least." "Dolphin! You're a dolphin!" burst out Ruthie as she bounced on her heels. "You saved me from the shark!"

"Or maybe I've just read The Awakening too many times." "I haven't read that one," he replied. "You should. It's by Kate Chopin." "I'll give it a try." Another wave came in, but it only made it as far as my shoulders before rolling out again. I spread my hand against the sand beside me. "Don't worry," I told him. "When the water comes in I'll just float." "I'll have to take your word for that." "You were right," I said, matching the lightness of his tone. "The ocean is very calming."

The Alphas Hunt

The Alphas Hunt

Nora had left to continue working but she said I could stay in her room for as long as I wanted. I got into reading her book, it was a fairytale about a water elf who fell in love with a forest elf. They were rivals with great responsibilities to their own land and people but their love didn't dim with the time they were forced to stay apart- if anything it grew until the pain of being separated was stronger than their love for each other. As a result of their wounded hearts, the oceans turned into chaos with waves so big they covered entire cities. The forest slowly died, the tree crowns hung as though on a tired neck and the colors turned grey from decay.

The book was great. The first section was quite disturbing & I almost stopped reading it. I'm glad I persevered as the twists & turns, as well as the character development, made it compelling & worthwhile.

There are A LOT of spelling mistakes at first, and trust me, I almost stopped reading because I was so irritated. But I’m SO GLAD I stuck with it because the storytelling and character dev is so good!! There are still spelling mistakes throughout, but much less frequent. Can’t wait for book 2!!!

For The Blind Billionaire

For The Blind Billionaire

Because deep down, I already knew the truth. When dinner ended, he walked with me to the edge of the deck, his hand hovering close but not touching. “Describe it to me,” he said quietly. “The ocean?” “Yes.” I glanced at the horizon, the line where night met water. “It’s… endless. The waves keep folding into each other, soft and glowing from the moonlight. It looks alive.” “Alive,” he repeated softly. “That’s a good word.” I smiled faintly. “You can hear it, can’t you?”

Drowning in the Ocean of Love

Drowning in the Ocean of Love

"Please don't cry… It hurts me to see you like this." Perhaps he had loved me, I thought. But it didn't matter now. We had already reached the point of no return. Rain lashed down at midnight, yet Gabriel was still outside. He didn't have an umbrella, and he didn't seek shelter from the rain. He just stood stubbornly in the storm. I looked at his soaked figure through the peephole. He had been just as drenched the day he pulled me out of the ocean. Even so, I held firm and didn't let him inside.
