Elena's POV The ocean at dawn was a bruised purple, a vast, restless expanse of violet and indigo that seemed to bleed into the horizon. The waves arrived with a rhythmic, shushing sound, licking the white sands of the Vane private estate with a clinical persistence that made the rest of the world—the glass towers, the shouting headlines, the frantic pace of Manhattan—feel like a distant, flickering memory.

The book lslowly floated into place in the prophecy section.

The kind she wanted to belong to again. As she reached the end of the pier, she found something curious a small notebook tucked between two posts, edges damp from the sea spray. She opened it gently. Inside were words she didn’t recognize, written in an unfamiliar hand: “Maybe the ocean doesn’t separate people. Maybe it teaches them how to find each other differently.” Her heart stumbled. It wasn’t his writing, but the sentiment… it was something he would’ve said. She closed it softly, a faint smile curving her lips.

He felt like he failed his mate and his pup. “Stop it, don't blame yourself, you wouldn't have found me. The ocean King found me and protected me and our baby, but said he couldn't bring me back until he secured this key for when we get to Olympus.” Mina said pulling out a golden key that looked like it was melted and misshapen like it wouldn't fit into anything let alone a door. I’d never seen the ocean before, not outside of movies or television shows. Now it was real, I could smell the salty tang of the ocean, and even in the darkness the view was breathtaking. The stars and moon reflecting over the dark water. It looked like something out of a fairytale.

It was only five short, trembling, pain-fuelled steps, but it felt like I had run a marathon and I was light-headed. I clung to the frame of the bed, steadying myself and catching my breath for a moment before pulling myself upright and reaching for the shelf for stability. My eyes scanned the spines. A bible, obviously, made sense and I had predicted as much. The English Pilot, Fourth Book, Treatise of the Sphere and of the Art of Navigation, A Mariner’s Guide to the Coasts of the Spanish Main, De Iure Praedae, and something that looked totally out of place, Clarissa’s Folly: Or, The Wager of Hearts. There were also a number of books that were blank on the spines, which was interesting.
