She turned her back to face us, flashing a half-smile before she spread her arms to present the one hell of a room we were in. This place was bigger than I thought it was, and there was a pile of unused school furniture like desks and chairs cluttering the one corner. The large, wooden bookshelf placed in the middle of the room separated two sections of it. Some books with worn-out covers were stacked in every shelf, and cobwebs adorned them as if owned by a witch or something. It looked old, and the varnish that was plastered on it was peeling off.

My steps fall silent occasionally as I cross large, intricately woven rugs scattered about. I head straight for the aisle Celeste pointed out, offering her a small wave before disappearing between the labyrinth of bookshelves. Each section is marked with hand-carved plaques, their inscriptions barely legible in the dim light. They guide the way to different realms of knowledge: Alchemy, Herbology, History, and more. The books themselves are bound in various shades of leather, some adorned with golden leaves, others with intricate metal clasps. Many are so ancient that their titles have worn away, leaving only the texture of the leather to hint at the secrets within.

He had imagined the shelves to be made of brown wood but instead, they were made of glass. The tacky common ladder designs were absent and instead, a silver plated strong looking machinery with platforms was installed below the shelf. At a glance, Luuk could tell the machinery was one that lifted people off the ground, to the direction and height they desire with an automobile robot assistant to move the books around. He had seen it in a video once but never in real life.

I didn’t know what I was looking for, but I just planned to pick out a book that I could read while I wait up for Aleksandr to return. The moment I stepped inside I realized how truly beautiful the library was. There were dark mahogany shelves lining every wall, with a few small nooks with chairs where you could sit and read. Along the east wall I noticed a few small breaks for windows that allowed natural light to seep into the room without risk of damaging the books from too much sun exposure.

, I exclaimed in wonder as I glanced around at all of the lit shelves. “I don’t even know where to start.”, I said in awe. “Well, let’s leave the weaponry for your dad to go over with you and start with the Book of Durand. It would seem a fitting place to start, don’t you think?”, she asked with a smile as she pulled a thick heavy book from its place in the lit cabinet in the center of the room. I nodded as I watched her and followed to sit in on of the two wing backed burgundy leather chairs, table in the middle, at the side of the room.

I asked. "Enough to keep me in business at the best job in the world." She turned back to look at me and beamed. She stopped, pointing to a back corner. "Starting at this shelf all the way to the wall. I'll be here all night so let me know if I can help you with anything. Name is Betty." "Thank you, Betty," I said, turning to the ten to fifteen bookshelves stacked from the floor to the ceiling. It would take me days to get through all that. "Actually…something more specific. What books have named demons in them?"

We came back to the living room and kitchen where he twirled in the space. “Now! Jordy!” Basil snapped his fingers. “The books!” His assistant came forward, pulling out four different books, thick enormous books and basically slammed them down on the kitchen counter. Walking over, I peered at them. Basil came up behind me. “There is a book for bedrooms, kitchen and bathrooms, living room and lounge, and outdoor spaces. Look and show me what jumps out at you.” I nodded. Sitting down, I opened up the bedroom book first. Flipping through the pages, I stopped about the fifteen pages in.

It was a section of the library dedicated entirely to novels, a vast treasure trove of fiction from around the world. Ashley's eyes sparkled with anticipation as she took in the towering shelves, each one packed with row upon row of novels. The smell of old leather-bound books mixed with the faint scent of the underground air, creating a unique atmosphere that felt like a secret garden of stories waiting to be explored.
