The friends-to-lovers arc is so well done, and the steam feels earned because you're rooting for them the whole time.

'The Bonds That Tie' series is a perfect example—it's a dark paranormal why-choose romance with intense power dynamics and morally gray characters. The emotional stakes are high, which makes the physical moments hit harder. Those books get shared in corners of TikTok, but they're not yet the default recommendation, which is a shame.
