I ask and Everett shrugs. "Fuck if I know." He says, grabbing something else from his bag. "Can you believe these bookmarks they gave us?" He asks, showing me the pink tasseled piece of cardboard with the words 'Smut Slut' written in gold leafing displayed proudly on both sides. "If we're gonna do it, we might as well go all in." I say, looking at my own bookmark that says 'Emotionally attached to a morally grey character' in loopy font. At least mine's black.

Little me was in desperate need for love and affection, she was praying Kennedy and Robert would be a mommy and daddy. Finally came the cake, it was a chocolate cake, what little would say no to a chocolate cake, I had a generous slice that I devoured happily. Next was opening of presents for Robert he had some good ones and others he just closed back the box and gave his friends the third finger making me giggle. I stayed silent watching him open all his gifts giving thanks to each one for the none offending ones, lastly was Kennedy’s gift, it was the book she got from my job. He must he a bookworm like me. My little side wanted him to read me bed time stories.

I squinted my eyes and glared at her. Tentatively, she removed the paper cover of her book. Underneath was a far cry from the gently paper cover. The paper cover had a street with cherry blossoms blooming on each side. The title ‘Never Apart’ indicated a soft romance. The ‘real’ book cover, the one hidden under cherry blossoms was a half naked man, He had no shirt and showed tight muscles. all over his torso were tattoos His hand enclosed the throat of a blonde girl, she was dressed in a shirt probably his because of how large it is. Her head is thrown back in obvious pleasure and the title is ‘Choke me Harder.’ Definitely nothing a sophisticated young miss should read.

“You were lucky, that’s all. Now give me that damn book.” The moment the book was on her hand, she flicked the pages lustfully. Kleint was a bit worried the pages would be ripped and that she might never find the part she’s looking for at the state of her browsing. But his worries were in vain because, not a moment later, Z stopped flicking and was only staring at the necklace illustrated at the upper part of the content. There was a caption below the illustration and it reads, “TroXe: protector of the l**k.”

she cooed, her anger dissipating for the moment. But just as Takuto thought he was in the clear, Kenta burst out from behind a bookshelf. "Liar!" he yelled, pointing a finger at Takuto. "He just let me trade stickers for shovels!" Kenta then pulled a damp sticker out of his nose and held it up for all to see. "Look! This is evidence!" Takuto’s eyes widened as he looked at the snot-covered Pikachu sticker. No… no… this is worse than a Bitcoin crash!

At his large hands on the table and his eyes anywhere but my face. “Damien,” I said. “It’s just wood,” he said. It was not just wood. Tessa gave books. A carefully chosen stack, children’s stories with beautiful illustrations, the kind that were as much for the parents reading them as for the child hearing them. Tucked between two of them was a small card in her handwriting. For all the nights you read these until you have them memorized. I looked at her over the stack and she lifted her shoulders in that small honest way she had when she meant something more than she knew how to say out loud.

I grab it out of her hands and begin going through it, touching all the different pictures as I turn the pages. "Their addicting, aren't they?" she asks me. "Okay, I get it. This book is definitely worth…" I flip it over and look at the price. "Eight-fifty. I could probably play with this this soft sheep for a while." She smiles and turns back to the books, searching for another one. But a bright red book catches my eye. Grabbing it, I know I found exactly what we're looking for. "The ABC's of Soccer Board Book," I say outloud.
