*Jaedon’s POV* “You’re saying war?” My best friend and Beta, Peter Normandy raised his eyebrows at me. Peter and I had met when we were children. Our pack, Snow Creek, had taken over his own pack Everforest. Now, the remaining joined us and pledged their loyalty. It hasn’t been a terrible thing for them though. We didn’t have to kill anyone. Their Alpha had been sick and the sickness was spreading. He asked us to take over the healthy of their pack so it wouldn’t have to die off. Our Alpha at the time obliged.

"She’s already mapping out the western sector blocks as if her faction owns the asphalt." Lord Blackwell strode into the central armory, his massive gray aura flattening the nervous murmurs of the frontline grunts. "The border deployment begins in four weeks. He didn't wait for an answer, turning his leather-clad back on the squad and disappearing down the iron tunnel, leaving the room vibrating with raw anticipation. I head outside, taking a deep breath as I start to move – once again – into the woods, my destination a forbidden place. Yet I trudge, later on I undress, tying my clothes around my ankle before shifting. I’m in such a one-track mind I don’t even realise I hadn’t ripped my dress. Maybe this is going to work out. I make it to the border a while later, my plan seemingly becoming more a good idea as I had moved along the trees. But now, standing near inches away from the tree I had fallen off of so many nights ago, doubt comes crawling into my heart.

I remembered the last time I came to the Borderlands. I was still a young wolf, hellbent on making a name for myself and succeeding with the changing times. It had been a very long time ago. When it was still a haven for werewolves who didn’t conform to the new ways, the modern ways. Before it became a cesspool of violence and murder, the Borderlands was a home for all, teeming with young betas and luscious wildlife.
