Pregnant For My Father-in-Law
maybe working in a café, laughing with friends, falling in love with someone who didn’t see her as a bargaining chip or a womb to be used.
But that wasn’t my fate.
My fate was this.
Born into the Dagon family, where daughters were currency and sons were kings. Trained from childhood to smile through pain, to lower my eyes, to say “yes” even when every part of me screamed “no.” They’d prepared me for one thing only.. to be traded. To be married. To be useful.
And now here I was, pregnant with a child that wasn’t even mine to keep.
The pup’s energy stirred again softly, and restless, like it could feel the weight of my thoughts. I rubbed my belly gently, whispering to it under my breath.
