For a moment, everything inside me faltered. His palm was warm against my cheek but slowly, I lifted my hand and placed it over his. I felt the tension in his fingers, the way his touch hesitated for a fraction of a second. And I lowered his hand away from my face, guiding it down until it rested between us.
I drew in a deep breath.
