Naomi’s POV I couldn’t see. Couldn’t move. Everything was heat and weight and the sound of my pulse pounding in my ears. My wrists were bound. Something rough scraped against my skin, the scent of wolfsbane seeping into every breath I took. My head lolled to the side, but strong arms pulled me upright again. I whimpered. The laughter from earlier echoed around me, louder now. Closer. As if they enjoyed my struggle. I tried to piece together what happened—Layla, the walk, the garden, the woods… Layla.

he asked, stepping closer to where Nina stood with a lustful look on his face. “What are you doing?” I struggled against my bonds. “Leave her alone!” The warrior seemed to take my words as a challenge. He raised his hand to Nina, who glared at him defiantly. “Aarlon stop!” Another warrior interrupted him, regardless, he pushed Nina. Aarlon turned to me with a satisfied smile on his face. “On a second thought, you are right, I shouldn’t soil my hands with the disgusting blood of these Omegas.” I glanced back at Nina, relieved they were all right. “Nina… take care of Abigail,” I whispered, trying to seem calm as the warriors resumed dragging me away. “I will be fine, I promise you.”

Mother lowered her voice. “He doesn't tolerate anything.” “If they come looking for me...” the girl said. “They won't,” Father replied firmly. She looked at him. “Why?” His jaw tightened. “Because no pack crosses into Ashen Ridge territory without permission.” His voice dropped lower. “And no one leaves it without being allowed to.” The girl turned toward the window. Father remained silent for a moment before speaking again. “If the Ashen Ridge Alpha knows you're here...” He didn't finish. He didn't need to.

August's jaw clenched tightly. “Yes, I do.” He gritted out. “Do you think this person holds a grudge against your wife?” August looked at me before shaking his head no. “No.” “Do you think you have an insider?” Detective Wes asked. “Yes,” August responded. “Do you have an idea of who it might be?” August took a deep breath before nodding. “Yes.”

I asked raising an eyebrow. “And what did he want?” He asked waving away my question. “It's none of your business.” I scowled. Van's eyes met mine. “You're playing a dangerous game, Zara.” ‘I've been playing dangerous games since the day I met you.” He was quiet for a moment a while, then he warned. “That floor….the one you found today, it's not just restricted. It's protected. If you try to access it without clearance, you'll be flagged immediately.”

There's something strange going on, and I can't help but be cautious. My heart unexpectedly skipped a nervous beat as he smoothly slid his right hand around my waist, pulling me closer as we made our way towards the main door. The touch sent a jolt of excitement through me, but I couldn't help but wonder what his intentions were. The crowds were going wild, desperate to get a glimpse of us, but Damien's bodyguards were like an impenetrable wall, shielding us from the excited crowds. And that was when it hit me, the reality of being involved with Damien Albrecht, a world-famous figure, and the worst is that I am his wife.
