I nudge his shoulder playfully and roll my eyes at him. "You Liar," I mumble. Brandon shakes his head in disagreement and raises his hand in mock surrender with a serious look on his face. "I am serious here, I swear I have never been in love before. Why do you find that hard to believe?" He asks. Maybe it is because he is effortlessly gorgeous and has a lovely personality with a great sense of humour. Why else would I believe someone as perfect as Brandon has never been in love? I mean it is almost impossible.

"But I have bigger plans, Ava. Plans that involve your beloved James Valquez." Brandon crouched down, bringing his face level with hers. "You know, I have to thank you," he said with mock sincerity. "If it weren’t for you, I’d never have the chance to destroy that arrogant billionaire. When I’m done with him, I’ll make sure there’s nothing left of his legacy. And then..." He trailed off, a sinister smile spreading across his lips. "And then, you’ll learn to love me. Or at least, you’ll pretend to. Because you’ll have no other choice."

I took a deep breath. “Do you want your coffee, sweetheart?” I asked Liam gently, hoping I could still do something right. He looked at me with disgust. “No. I want the maid to bring it. I don’t want yours.” I stared at him. He didn’t know I was the one who made it every morning. That I woke up before dawn to grind the beans the way he liked it. To make it sweet, but not too sweet. With just enough milk. The “maid” just served it.

" Brandon fell to the floor, confused. Hadn't he been hugging his uncle's leg to fall asleep? Why was he now lying on the floor? In his inebriated state, he couldn't think clearly.
