"Melissa, are you asleep? Don't wait up. I've got stuff to handle, and I won't make it home tonight. "Just use one of those forgiveness cards, okay? I'll bring you some pastries tomorrow. I have to go, bye." He hung up before I could even respond, leaving me with a dial tone. I set the phone down, a bit too hard, and knocked over a cup. Our engagement cup, the one we made together, shattered into two. Maybe it was a sign that our relationship was broken beyond repair. I opened the messenger and clicked on Walter's picture. [Didn't get to say this earlier, but I'm out of forgiveness cards.]

He said to whoever was on the other end, "I'll be right there." I looked up at him. "The wedding's about to start." His voice was heavy. "We'll have to cancel the wedding. We can reschedule for later." I didn't cry or make a scene. I just asked stubbornly and calmly, "All these media people and everyone from our circle are here today. If you cancel the wedding now, do you want me to become the laughingstock of the entire city?" "Grandpa got a special injection just so he could hold on long enough to come and see me get married."

"I don't know what tricks your mother used, but mine actually listened to her. She even threatened me with the family's future and forced me to marry a woman like you." Kylo glanced at the cake on the ground, then at the cream smeared on Nora's bag. His voice dropped lower. "Nora's bag is a global limited-edition worth millions. You'll pay full price for the damage. As for that slap, I'll make sure you get it back tenfold." I clenched my jaw and spat at his feet. "Kylo Winston, I'm calling off this engagement." The reason for that was because I failed to see the benefit in a loveless marriage. She held onto his shirt. Edwin pulled his shirt away from her hand aggressively. He stormed out of the restaurant. Cameras flashed around him. He ignored it. If he was going to end things with Hannah anyway, he needed it to be broadcasted, just the same way his engagement with her was broadcasted.

My radio is still playing in the background, I turned it off and drove back to my father’s manor, wondering what tomorrow got for me. But whatever tomorrow may bring, one thing is for sure and that is I will do whatever it takes to cancel this freaking engagement.

The regret is creeping up me. “No.. no.. It is not what you think it was.” I wanted to explain to her but she quickly cut me off. “No , it is Ok, Madalynne, You do not need to explain it to me , I understand that you and Joseph actually broke off the engagement , it is ok. You do not need to explain. By the way , I am going to cut off the call now , cause I am actually driving now. It is going to green light soon.
