Rome squares her shoulders and takes a deep breath. “For the future of the true Luna.” She whispers. In that instant, Falcon morphs back into a huge sandy-colored beast, half man, half wolf, and lunges for her. She screams violently, her sobs echoing through the night as I watch on in horror. She is a lifeless heap on the ground, laying in a pool of her own blood.

The butterflies in my belly flapped happily. “Thanks for saying yes.” He whispered against my lips. I kissed him, “you know there was no way I would have said no.” “It's still expected of me to ask.” He grinned. Sighing, I placed my head on his chest, letting him rock me slowly. My life didn't have to end awfully in the end. I have been reborn to take the place of my father, and fight for the eternal freedom of my people. I am the reborn Luna Kira and I have come to live.

"It seems you didn't understand my words earlier, Mireya. I am Usher's mate. Like it or not, I am Luna. So, watch your attitude." Mireya growled as she tried to pull her hand away. "Watch my attitude? Dream on, Vione. You were never anyone's Luna. You should think about it; you're not worthy to be Luna. You should be self-aware. You are just a discarded werewolf without a family, a werewolf without claws". Being destined to be Luna was not a bad thing. But to be born without a clear origin and claws was a catastrophe for Vione. Until this moment, she realized that these two things made her life feel like hell.

Ruben was so baffled by Xander’s outburst that he stumbled on his feet backward while looking at Xander fearfully. “You are Xyla’s gamma, Ruben. Do you understand what it means for both a Luna and a gamma?” Xander continued yelling at him while storming in Ruben’s direction. “Xander.” I tried to stop him, but Xander was now fuming in rage. “She is not just a Luna. She is an alpha, Ruben, and you made the gamma bond with she-alpha. That broken bond is killing you, and so did Xyla.” Xander continued yelling at Ruben, but what he said made me sigh deeply.

I ask, my voice breaking, as I ran a hand over my face. "I need to see him." "You're too late," Luna says, clutching her chest suddenly. "You're always too late." She staggered a bit, her face frowning in pain as she gasped. I reached for her instinctively, catching her as she collapsed against me. "Luna? What's wrong?" I started panicking once more as I realize something is terribly wrong. Her heartbeat is erratic, her breathing labored. "Heart attack," she gasps, her fingers digging into my shirt. "Mate bond...breaking."

The second female said hurriedly. "Let's go, aunt Pipe." She forced her aunt to follow her, leaving the store with all her might. "Goddess won't bless you because you stole a male from his true mate!" Aunt Pipe—from what the second female called her—continued screaming. "Casey is the only Luna!" And kept going until their figures disappeared. Even so, we could still hear the voice faintly.

I felt like screaming his name, then suddenly it hit me that just staring at him had caused me this. I had been drawn by his eyes into an imaginary universe, and before I could react to my imagines, he smirked. The look in his eyes looked nothing like the Scott I had grown to love, as it was filled up with so much spite and hatred. If I had refused to acknowledge it before, I knew everything they had been a lie, but it was confirmed when the elders asked him for the name of his Luna. He looked away from me and smiles to the crowd as he announced the name of his Luna, Crystal Bell.

Luna is screaming, but Rebel is silent. Rebel grabs Luna by her long blonde hair and wraps it around her fist. Pulling her head back as Luna claws at Rebels jacket. Rebel punches her in the face. Luna screams again when Rebel pulls her gun and places it against Luna’s forehead and the room stops breathing and Luna goes still.

“Ayla, it’s reacting to you!” “I can control it—just a little more—” But the light exploded outward, hurling them both across the chamber. When the glare faded, the monolith was gone. In its place stood a symbol burning in midair, shaped like a crescent made of flame. And in the reflection of the black water below it—stood the Luna. Her smile was calm, terrible. “The first Seal is broken,” she said softly. “And now the moon will cry twice more.” Before Ayla could move, the reflection reached through the water and gripped her wrist.
