The tears flowed freely, staining my cheeks with their salty remnants as my heart cried out in the silence of my apartment. I felt the ache deep within my chest, a searing pain that seemed to radiate through every fiber of my being. It was a heartbreak that went beyond the realm of lost love or shattered dreams. It was a soul-deep ache, an emptiness that threatened to engulf me in its all-consuming darkness.

I sat in the empty boardroom, my mind numb as the magnitude of my defeat settled in. The room that had once been the battlefield of my ambitions now felt like a tomb, cold and desolate. I couldn’t remember how long I had been sitting there, staring at the table where moments before, my entire world had come crashing down.
