I grabbed Izar’s arm to calm him down. “Izar, let’s not waste our time here. We still need to pass through the scanner,” Cygnus said to his brother. Izar said no more, and we resumed walking. Lord Brehan introduced me to the rest of the council members, and then led us to a scanner. It was like a body scanner at the airport, except it was circular and you had to stand in the center. Someone operated it from in front of a screen. My mates went first, and once they were done, they helped me step inside.

“Zayne?” “Oh, Sienna’s older brother,” I muttered under my breath. I’d never seen him before, but from the way Sienna had described him over the years, he wasn’t exactly… appealing. I went over to him, meaning to grab his hand, but instead, I touched a warm, sticky liquid on his hand. "Why's your hand all wet?" I asked, holding up my hand and sniffing it. He leans forward, his eyes gleaming."Since High school." I take the envelope and start flipping through it. My frown deepens when I see the familiar yearbook photo. "And?"

I said quickly, standing up before I knew it. He motioned for me to follow. “Let’s talk in my office.” I nodded and followed him to his office as he pointed to a chair for me to sit on. “I’ve gone over the records we obtained from your brother’s old doctor,” he said, pushing a few of the reports closer to him. “The scans, his notes, how things have been since then. The coma he’s been in for a long time now but,” he looked back at me with hard eyes. “ I can still help him.”

“This just came in. It’s marked urgent.” I frowned, taking it from him. “Thanks.” He nodded and hurried off. I unfolded the note, expecting some rushed lab results or post-op updates. But it wasn’t from the hospital. It was something else. My heart raced as I read the note. "What's that?" Leo asked. I looked from him to the note, still unable to understand what was going on. “Your brother is missing. Come alone.” The words swam on the page, my fingers tightening around the edges as I read it again and again.
