On the day the kidnappers killed my son, I did not cry. I paid top dollar for the best lawyer in the city to argue that the kidnapper was innocent. And once he was free, I signed ten percent of my shares over to him. I also gave him the house my son had loved most. My husband, Alex Thomas, slapped me in front of the press. He called me a cold-blooded monster. People on social media boycotted my company and demanded my family kick me out. I endured every insult and every attack in silence. At the review hearing, I looked at my husband. "I thought you, of all people, would understand me."

Alex, Adrian and I stood at the entrance of the station while Mum and Dad rushed to the counter, they were speaking with an officer who later went to open the cell door. Alex held my hand as we walked closer to them. “You need to check on your son.” The officer said. “Are you sure he is okay?” Dad flared up, but he gritted his teeth and balled his hands. “May I know the issue and the reason you arrested my son?” “We didn’t arrest him.” Another officer said as he came over. “He appeared outdoors this morning and claimed to have killed Ana Fredrick.” Alex and Arnold gasped behind me, I turned to Adrian, he was just sitting there and looking into space. “No, Adrian was not a murderer.”

"If you can't pay, get discharged right now." "Hey! You're hurting him!" I had wanted to say more, but a few men suddenly barged in. "Are you Harlan Sharp?" I nodded, staring at them with confusion. "Take him." The man raised his chin arrogantly. His subordinates stepped forward and dragged Grandpa straight off the bed. I lunged at them with fury, but two people held me back. "What are you guys doing? Let go of my grandpa!" "Let him go? In your dreams. He deserves to be put on trial!"

And the headline made my blood freeze. Breaking: Gregory Kingston Escapes Prison. Former NHL Enforcer Declared Armed and Dangerous. Authorities Warn He May Be Seeking Contact With Son. Below it, a second alert: Evelyn Kingston Also Missing. Coordinated Escape Suspected. I looked at Jace. His eyes had gone gold, not controlled, not steady, but blazing with something ancient and furious. "My parents are free."

Tucker explained, seeing her puzzled frown. “Yes. Are you okay, Tucker? Chasing after a thief like that is dangerous,” she said as she handed the bag back to him. “I’m fine. I know some martial arts. The culprit was a drug-addicted kid who tried to snatch a woman’s bag at the company. The police have taken him into custody now.” “Wow, you look like a hero!” “Not that much, Ruby. Alright, Flynn, say goodbye to Ruby.” Tucker turned to his son. “I’ll go now, Ruby.” Flynn raised his hand and waved to her.

He stayed unmoving, and a minute later, I pulled up my pants, too angry to dump. “Wait,” he said, and brought out his cellphone. He put it to his ear. “Caleb Richmond.” He looked at me, a slash of a smile appearing on the thin lines of his lips—snakelike. “Eric Bracknell? Oh wonderful. If you could please connect me to him, to him I’m sure he’d be most grateful. I have news about his son.” My heart skipped a beat at the mention of that name. He was talking with my father? What exactly did that mean? Had my father’s homophobic nature suddenly blown through the roof? And even if it had, why would he send Caleb of all people to have me kidnapped?

As I walked out of the courthouse on the day of my divorce from Vicente Buckley, the sky threatened to rain. "Patricia." Vicente opened the passenger door of his car. "Let me take you home." Before I could respond, my son, Jamie Buckley, poked his smartwatch through the rear window. "Dad, Kinsley said she would make me nougats tonight. She's already bought groceries and is at our doorstep." Vicente frowned slightly and said, "Go inside."

He probably had them stationed not too far from here. " Don't worry, you won't get executed. You'll just have to get used to living behind closed walls for the rest of your life." He flashed me a smile, and the door burst open, the cops flooding in. " Hands above your head, Zayden Kent. You're under arrest for the murder of Laura Kent, Tristan Smith and the kidnapping of Lillan Ace." Slowly, I lifted my hands, my eyes never leaving my father. The cops came up behind me, pointing their rifles at me.
