Leo turned his drawing board to reveal a drawing of a calm lake. Daniela and the remaining three applauded him. Rocco showed his drawing next, which was a messy combination of red and black. They still applauded him. Alessio turned his drawing board. His drew a picture of four small boys running in a field. He was applauded. Killian turned to Matteo, the ring leader. “Your turn.” Matteo smiled and turned his drawing board. Killian rolled his eyes. As expected. Matteo drew a picture of a woman in a wedding dress, holding hands with four small boys in suits, and beside them was a stick figure of a man who looked like no effort was put into drawing him.

I grinned at my boys, who were all looking nervous except for Mancini. I'd warned, I warned them all that my kid was a whole other breed of fucked up, but they all, to a man, claimed she was just a baby. My phone rang on my hip with the first strains of The Dark Army by Rok Nardin. Mengele's demented ass was calling. "It's in the bunny." I snapped my fingers at the boys to get their attention. "How do you know?" "I know." "Ryder, does your ex have a bunny?"

All they did in my class was practice adding and subtracting. Mom got a funny look on her face when I told her that I like to draw during math. While the other kids werre counting on their fingers I would pretend to be working in my workbook. Truthfully, I was sketching. I had some cool drawings in that workbook, hidden way in the back. I like to draw weather events, uncontrolled power unleashed on unsuspecting souls. I liked hurricanes and tornadoes the best. I loved the power a storm generated. The inevitable destruction it would cause was fun to try to put on paper. Sometimes I would see a storm raging in my mind and I could barely draw fast enough to get all the details on the page

"Fuck, after that last one, I'll happily let you draw a pretty picture on my face." The girls smiled brightly and made their way to our side of the table. Brian gave each of them a black marker and flipped a timer. Hycinth was still wearing her heels, making it easier for her to reach me. I felt her draw quick lines on my cheeks and above my eyebrows, before drawing a circle on my nose and filling it in. "Times up!" Brian called out. "What did you draw?" I asked curiously, although I had an idea. She smirked, "You make an adorable pussy...cat."

Mercedes' POV “Can I see?” I asked Carter who shrieked and hud his paper behind his back. “Carter what's wrong? You've been drawing for hours, can I see?” I asked again but the little boy shook his head. “Why not?” I inquired. “I'm not yet done,” he replied. “Carter never shows me his drawings and he laughs at mine.” Penelope pouted as she rose her paper and showed me her drawing. There were four stickmen, two bigger ones on either side while two smaller ones stood in the middle smiling as they held their hands together.

From the drawing, it's lunch break and students are milling about around me but I'm standing there, looking stuck and feeling exhausted from the healing process. My eyes are a muddy brown but my lips are stretched out in a wide smile. My shoulders are slumped but my nostrils are flared like I'm angry and my fists are clenched so tightly, it's like I'm trying not to go wild. Like I'm trying to rein in my demons. And I don't even remember this. “These drawings are incredible, Jeremy.” “I should know, I made them and they're called outlines.” I slap his chest playfully, “Show a little gratitude.”

I never knew he was this disgusting. “You guys are disgusting,” I said, lifting my chin. “I’m not scared of you, you know. You’re just a bunch of socially-stunted shitheads. That’s probably the only way you can get it, isn’t it? Bullying girls into giving it up? No wonder your sorry ass got dumped.” Shit. Justin’s demeanor shifted on a dime, all traces of joking washed away. “What did you just say to me?” I shrugged, shifting my glare to Derek.

They always left early and somewhere in between, they forgot I existed unless something went wrong. The first time they ever talked to me longer than ten minutes was in somphore year when I stabbed a girl with my pencil just because she called my drawing ugly. I can't lie myself the drawing was ugly, really ugly but the whole class was looking at me, anticipating what I'll do next. So I took the pencil and poked her a little bit. I'm joking, the pencil went into her skin but it doesn't really matter because I came into class and everybody was talking to me, asking me what happened.

“But I do need to show you something.” She takes my hand and leads me to her desk. Opening a drawer, she pulls out a small stack of papers. She holds them out to me, and I take the stack. They’re children’s drawings in crayon. “I found those in Bryony’s room,” Willow explains. Our three-year-old daughter's drawing isn’t a concern. It’s the subject matter in her drawings that makes me pause. There are drawings of wolves in cages, a bloody wolf on the ground with a knife sticking out of its neck and a black sun with a smaller blue circle inside of it.
