The shaman is dead. But I will not return south. I'm going east, towards Sogorim. "

"Appu and Shita lane..." Tigrani. Brugour. The Miss. "Groaaar!" Brugour's thunderous roar erupted from the Shita lane. Birds scattered in unison, startled by the terrifying sound of an adversary who had remained elusive till this very moment. A surge of tension gripped my muscles. I swallowed hard, clenching my palms in preparation for the impending conflict. "Enemy on the Shita lane is stunned! Now!" Rouma ordered. "Bonbon!" Borracho's voice commanded our one-eyed ally.

And the gale force wind, screaming with the voice of the glen, tore into the entities, freezing the water on their rubbery flesh until their bodies shattered under the extreme, sudden physical toll. From the cliff's edge, the new leader of the blood-born recoiled, its unhinged jaw clamping shut with a frustrated, clicking snap. It looked up toward the distant, hidden figure on the high ridge, realizing for the first time that while Malakai had opened the cage, they had absolutely no idea that the glen itself carried a crown of thunder and a blade of storms. The elemental army, led by the commander in the sky, had just drawn the line. The sky above the ridge did not just storm; it fractured.

Emily walked toward me and pulled a card out of her bag, setting it on the table. "There's five hundred thousand dollars in there. Call it compensation." I didn't take it. "No point. None of it matters anymore." She hesitated. Her eyes landed on the pill bottles scattered by the bed. Something flickered across her face. Then she grabbed the bottles, her expression turning sour. "Nathan. I know you still have feelings for me, but pulling this kind of stunt for sympathy is pathetic." She threw the bottles in the trash. I looked up at her. That face I loved to the bone. The face I'd seen a thousand times in my dreams—smiling, crying, laughing. But never cold like this.

Not long after the boat vanished over the horizon, dark clouds rolled in, and massive waves surged like a raging beast, swallowing the shore. I was swept into the dark current, seawater flooding my lungs. As my consciousness faded, I felt a strange sense of relief. Meanwhile, at the grand cathedral in Laningarde, wedding bells rang out. Barrett, dressed in a white suit, was about to slip the diamond ring onto Astrid's finger when a disheveled guard burst in, his panicked scream cutting through the music. "Boss, bad news! A tsunami just hit the island. Miss Brooks didn't make it!"

Wesley had arranged for daily updates on Emma—one photo of her every day. Just then, a new image notification appeared on his phone. Wesley opened it and saw Emma crouched by the roadside, feeding a stray kitten. Sunlight carved a soft, warm glow around her. His finger brushed over her image on the screen. It wasn't that he hadn't wanted to see her all this time. He was simply biding his time, waiting for his plan to come to fruition. He knew better than anyone else that if he showed up now, all he could offer her was a hollow apology. It wouldn't have mattered.
