Red stepped closer, looming over him, casually pounding a clenched fist into his open palm.
"Poor little baby. No mummy or daddy around to protect you, is there?" Red smirked, leaning down so the boy could smell the cheap bubblegum on his breath. "What's it like being a stray dog? What's it like being an orphan?"
Panic finally flared in the young boy's chest. He wriggled and writhed, kicking his legs out, fighting with the desperate, wild strength of a trapped animal to get free, but he was pinned too tightly. He was too weak, and he hadn't eaten since yesterday morning.
