I Felt Like I was in an amazement park but in the worst possible ride ever. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Pulling at the collar of my shirt I tried to ease my breathing, this wasn't my first book reading, but I always got very nervous at them. When I did these, I put my work, my inner thoughts in front of everybody to judge. I put my experience, my trauma before their scrutinising eyes. So far the audience seemed to be interested in what I was saying, in work that I had actually published. Something I never would have thought would be happening. But the book had been published for a month now and the reviews were beyond me.

The reads increased drastically but not the reviews. The urge to write disappeared immediately, to be honest reviews and comments from my readers was one of the things that encourages me to write, I sighed heavily. I'm sure most writers gets more motivated with reviews and comments. Only if readers could know how huge they contribute to a writers life with their amazing comments. I shut down my laptop, getting up from bed. It was getting late already. I had to make dinner for my mum and I. The image of a naked Jamaal flashed through my mind. I grew hot immediately, I began to fan myself with my hands.

About what it is to be the daughter of a man who trusted the truth more than he trusted his own safety. The book is reviewed in three national publications in the week of its release. Two of the reviews are the kind that a first-time author does not anticipate receiving — serious and specific and written by people who have read it rather than read about it. The third review is in a financial publication and is largely concerned with the Blackwood Holdings story as a corporate narrative, which is not the book I wrote. I read it with the equanimity of someone who has learned that not every reader is your reader and that this does not diminish the ones who are.
