Baylor POV When we walked through the door of the conference room ’Shammus’ started chanting again as the staring guy came forward with his hand extended to shake mine. “Baylor, good to see you. I am Clive Kelly and this is Phineas Brody my best friend as you would say. The other fellows here are Fergus, Aidin, and Arthur,” Clive said as introductions. “This is Kenneth Goldberg and Mitchum Averman, my best friends.”

I needed to buy myself a lot of time or else, I was going to be doomed if he discovers. Bang! I collided with a figure just as I was running, making me fall to the floor. Immediately, a sense of premonition arose in my heart as I stood up and looked at the figure. Frowning, I saw that the figure was a man in his late sixties. But from the looks of it, he didn't seem to be a member of the pack and it made me wonder if he was a spy. But then I could care less about that at the moment, I needed to leave as soon as I could. I didn't know if Alpha Kyle had noticed that I was missing or not.

He pulls me into a hug when he reaches me, both of us looking in surprise at Cain when he makes an odd sort of feral growling noise, which he almost immediately covers by coughing. "Did you just growl?" I ask with a laugh and he frowns at me, shaking his head as though I'm crazy so I look at Damien for backup and he nods. While Gale is walking across the course at a speed that a sloth could overtake her, Damien and I try, and fail, to imitate the sound Cain made just now, stopping when he shoots us a look that lets us know how much he's not enjoying our joke.

He points to a photo where Dale is shaking hands with another man. "I'm not sure who that is yet, but there's a tattoo on his hand. A 'M' crossed out. I believe Dale works for him, and they're after whatever secret Hera knows." My blood turns cold as I look at the tattoo. "That can't be right," I murmur. It must be a mistake. It can't be him."

RUBY. “What's going on here?” I turned to see the most handsome man I had ever laid eyes on enter the hall. Dressed in a gray shirt and black pants, his short blond hair was slicked back, accentuating his striking aquamarine eyes. His presence exuded power, and without a word spoken, I knew exactly who he was: Kael, Alpha Frederick's only son. I had seen numerous pictures of him, but his physical presence was far more captivating than I had ever imagined. Kael had been away from home for four years, dedicated to learning and studying how to lead a pack.

I instructed. "I'm on it. Now for the girl. The one you're not interested in,” he snickered. He quickly stopped when I growled. "Okay. Be broody about it. Aurelia Faith Christian is a sixteen-year-old from Eugene, Oregon. A B+ student, despite her age, will be a senior in the fall. She's on the debate and girls’ lacrosse teams at school and has multiple trophies from equestrian events. Her parents, Mary and William Christian, own and run the Christian horse ranch. And well, they are human. No connection to our kind or even knowledge of it,” he reported.

I asked, making him chuckle. “No, I am saying that because despite knowing that he is going through the battle of his life; you are making sure to make him smile. My son has never trusted a woman enough to have her stay in his room for more than one night, and that night was usually spent at a hotel. Claire was one of our gifts in this world, a token of our love as Isabella called it, and Alexei knows that. I said, my voice like cold silk. The door pushed open, and Kael stepped into the room. He was still in his pads, his jersey torn and stained with grass and sweat. He was six-foot-three of pure, corn-fed muscle, a specimen of physical perfection that usually carried himself with an insufferable swagger. Tonight, his head was bowed, his helmet dangling from his hand like a severed head. "Coach Morgan," he mumbled, his voice thick with shame. "I... I know I messed up."

"The date, that is." "Whoa Oneida, what are you doing with this guy?" Brian derided me as he walked up. I wanted to say, 'Brian, you've insulted a princess of the A****n people. I plastered a fake smile on my face, trying to hide my disappointment as I looked at her. “No, it’s perfect, and you look beautiful. However…that… happened, it’s part of you, and I say fucking own it.” Determination filled her voice as she crossed her arms over her chest. “I knew I fucking liked her.” Celeste smirked. “She is a fantastic hype-woman, isn’t she.” I laughed in agreement. “Take it off and give it to me so I can buy it for you.” Maeve said, placing her hands on her hips with a look that said she would be willing to fight me on this if she had to.
