The lobby was bustling with the morning rush—analysts juggling coffees, interns running with tablets, security guards scanning badges. But when the figure in the black trench coat stepped through the doors, the noise level dropped by fifty percent. Altair Hale walked through the lobby.

He stands to his feet and lets his gaze travel from one end of the table to the other. “I am Alpha Shane of the Dark Moon pack. I went back to where I was brought into the world and took back what was mine. I am the only legitimate heir and it is my birthright to be Alpha of my father’s pack. I’ve broken no laws, I challenged him, and won,” he said.

Ophelia sensed the shift too. Her expression tightened subtly as she studied Luna more carefully. Something uncertain flickered across her face for the first time. Then a man hurried toward them from the far end of the ballroom. Wore a grey suit and a nervous smile with conference badge hanging from his neck. “Ms. Albert!” he called breathlessly. The moment he reached her, he bowed slightly. “My God, it’s truly you.” He extended both hands eagerly. “Victor Hale, chairman of Hale Dynamics. We spoke over video conference last year regarding the Tokyo acquisition.”

I needed to buy myself a lot of time or else, I was going to be doomed if he discovers. Bang! I collided with a figure just as I was running, making me fall to the floor. I extended a hand to him, and shaking my hand, he smirked at me, watching as Natasha took a step back. “Alpha Nathan Kozlov. You really are a man of business. I can see that your place seems to bring in more people with each passing day” he said, looking at Natasha who bit her bottom lip as she smiled. I knew that it disgusted her to act this way, but she also knew her job and duty well, and it was one of the main reasons why she was the ONLY one qualified for this job and no one else.

Phillip glanced at me before shaking his head. “That would be disrespectful, Luna. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Phillip Bryant, the head doctor here at the Mount Hood hospital,” he smiled. “Bryant? Like David or Katherine?” Aurelia asked, eyeing him cautiously. Phillip sighed. “David is my son. And I am so sorry for the part my niece Katherine played in the attack on you and your family’s home. Aurelia nodded, still eyeing him. “Not your fault. I at least like your son,” she shrugged, relaxing.

The big merger defense case against TechDyn was heating up, and Dave wanted every detail perfect before the hearing next week. Dave Hale was the senior partner at Hale & Associates, forty-two years old, married for fifteen years, and known as one of the sharpest corporate litigators in the city. He was also straight. "I'm on my way." Her office door was open when I got there, and Ms. Stanton was standing beside her desk with an older man I had never seen before. He was tall and gray-haired, and well dressed in a conservative suit that looked expensive without trying to show off. And when he saw me, he smiled warmly and stepped forward. "Ah, you must be Serena Hale," he said, extending his hand. "Gary Winchester. It's a pleasure." I shook his hand with a smile and said, "Nice to meet you, sir."
