With the spotlight now shining on him, he threw his arms up, grinning widely as his teammates engulfed him. “He’s more than that,” I mumbled, not caring that I sounded ridiculous. “You’re just being obsessed.” She groaned, chewing noisily on her popcorn. She always chewed noisily whenever she was brewing something stupid in her head. Just like I had thought, she shifted her gaze back to me and with a hand resting under her chin, she said, “I told you about Caleb, remember? He asked about you again.” “And unlike Nate freaking Lincoln, Caleb is actually normal. He studies Computer Engineering like us, and doesn’t think the sun rises and sets with his own ego.”

Xavier continued, "Then how about you talk to Matthias? You and Matthias have some connection, right?" Caleb replied, "I could, but I don't think Matthias would listen." From the way Celeste had looked when she agreed to switch dance partners that night, Caleb had sensed that she and Matthias were not in a romantic relationship. But at the same time, it was clear that Matthias valued Celeste deeply. He didn't believe that even if he helped Jorge reconcile with Matthias, Matthias would suddenly agree to collaborate with Jorge.

He set his weights and lay down. Micah Stroud, the next man in line, offered to spot him. Caleb didn’t know him well, but they’d nodded hello a few times before. He accepted the offer. Micah stood over him, hands ready. Caleb lifted and grunted, but it was impossible not to notice the heavy bulge in Micah’s gym shorts. He knew that was exactly what Marina was imagining for her birthday present. Caleb finished his workout and headed for the showers. “You were looking good on the press today,” Micah said as he took the shower head next to him. “I’m Micah. I think we’ve met before. Once Caleb was out of sight, Xavier wondered if she sold her body to top clients who helped her protect her identity. Caleb has never failed to get anything, and both of them have been together for many years now and dispute their status as master and servant. They were so close, as if they were brothers, and Xavier trusted his judgment. Xavier looked around his office and felt as though he had failed for the first time in his life. Tonight, the hatred was a living thing, breathing between them in the cramped laundry room of their shared house. "Hey princess," Caleb growled, his tall frame blocking the doorway. He was shirtless, just a pair of gray sweatpants slung low on his hips and a towel slung over one shoulder. His chest was all lean muscle and a sleeve of tattoos that swirled down his right arm. He looked exactly like the trouble he was. “Wash this,” he threw a white blanket at her and she dodged it. Maya was bent over the dryer, pulling out a basket of warm towels. She didn't turn around.

He turns to me. “Hi,” I say. “Caleb,” Calum cuts in. Pushing me forward by my shoulders, he says, “This is my girlfriend, Cathy.” Caleb is black haired with eyes that are nearly the same colour. “She’s here for moral support. I need it.” I doubt that. He will kill this with or without me. “Where’s Scott anyway?” Caleb peeks at his wristwatch. “On his way.” He flips me a smile and says, “Welcome, Cathy.”

Colt mumbled, powering up his laptop. "She pissed me off so I let her go!" Caleb said casually. "But I'm now with Eve. She's smart, funny, and damn, the sexiest girl I've ever laid my eyes on." He smirked. "I remember you saying the same about all your exes. Just be careful, Caleb!"

Ryan asks him “To answer your first question, I don’t think you will listen to me…I know that you will listen to me because if Meelah is your best friend like you claim that she is, you will readily agree to anyone that is trying to keep her safe and I have a feeling that you don’t like me, but you have no choice but to listen to me” Caleb tells him with an insane amount of confidence oozing out of him and Ryan just keeps looking at him in utter shock. “To answer your second question, of course, Melanie and I are not married” Caleb answers, even though he loves the fact that he just made Ryan Blackwood at a loss for his words.
