Taboo: Ties and Sins
The humid heat of the Minas Gerais summer embraced the family’s country house like an insistent lover. It was the first day of Carnival, and the large property, with its huge swimming pool, wide veranda, and well-kept gardens, was filled with laughter, loud music, and the smell of barbecue mixed with ice-cold beer. Uncles, aunts, cousins, and nephews wandered everywhere. Some were already in costume, others still in regular clothes, all excited to join the street party in the city that night.
