My eyes trailed over the carvings, over the ornate curve of the doorway and up to the arched windows that hung ahead.
The castle had been printed on the flyer for Carnival Cerulean. The door knockers were two curved horns, one white and the other black. Something drew my eyes from the door and up to one of the windows. A flicker of light perhaps but as I looked closer, I was sure I had seen something else.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Abel mused, his dark hair shifting as he tilted his head at the castle.
“Beautiful, and dangerous.” I confirmed, clasping my sticky palms together to stop the trembling of my fingertips.
