KIERAN’S POV (14) ~<>~ The key… The last time I heard about that word, it was in relation to the witches’ ancient but sealed power, but even though the term was the same, hearing Dahlia speak it now brought a completely different kind of pain to the center of my heart. Because this time, Celeste was mentioned in the same breath as the key. The same key that we all knew would unleash the dormant, dark powers of the witches. The same key that… Goddess!

Kade snorted and agreed with me. Selene was known to be very crafty when it came to arranging her chess pieces on the board. Look at all she did to bring Kade and I together and everything she did for me time and again. Then there was Dark Moon. The different species integrating. So on and so forth. “Do you know much about Celestials?” she asked us. I shook my head no because we definitely did not. Dante was kind of busy elsewhere, so he was of little help at the moment.

His royal Portman entered the room, and he turned to face him. "It's time, your Majesty," he said. He gave one last glance at the mirror and walked towards him. He watched his Portman open a portal to the Celestial castle. He stepped inside and was welcomed into the Grander Hall. "Welcome to the Celestial Castle, King Odincliffe," greeted the castle's Curator and bowed in front of him. "King Trevino and King Chloex have arrived." Oh, dear. Chloe did come. "Lead the way," he commanded, and the Curator turned and guided him into the Summit Chamber.

The troops grew even closer as Nya skirted across the open space toward the rise in stone where the doorway to the staircase protruded from the flat walkway. Reaching the barrier, she tried the knob and found it locked. Slate signaled for her to stand aside and then used his brute strength to force the door open. With a nod, she entered the dark stairwell, Slate right behind her. In front of her, she saw nothing but darkness--save the glowing, round white spheres that could be nothing other than a set of eyeballs. “Zans!” Nya cursed, wondering what had gone wrong. They weren’t alone after all.

The burly elder Demon Saint took out a globular Sky-fleeing Stone Key and put it on a grid of the chessboard formation. The moment the Sky-fleeing Stone Key met with the chessboard formation; the grid burst out a bright silver flame. It was like a mass of soft and crystal mercury flowing and flickering in the void.

When the woman reached out and touched my arm everything became crystal clear. “They know you have the chronicles, amulet and finger. They have been waiting for all three to be in the same place before they make their move. Time is running out, you must tell the Celestial Luna, the Kutkatasina are coming, they will stop at nothing to get the keys to the ancient magic.” The witch pleads with me as she hangs on to my arm. Her body lifts off the floor and starts being pulled back towards the cave entrance. “You must deliver the message. The deathless witch is the last piece, they don’t know you have her. They are coming...” she let’s go of my arm and hurtles backwards into the mouth of the cave

I said, then turned and walked towards the sofa where my sister and Jay were busy discussing crypto and who knows what else. "Um, Miss Azalea?" the dressmaker suddenly said, and I turned. "Maybe it would be nice if you use white azaleas and baby's breath for the wedding." Ikaros' lips widened into a thin smile. "Good idea," he said. "I like the name of those flowers, azaleas and baby's breath." And if the mental warfare between Ikaros and me were likened to a chessboard, he had just taken down one of my pawns standing in front.

The idea of being his mate, of having someone who cared for me so deeply, was overwhelming. How can Alpha Cepheus be my mate? Moon Goddess, give me strength for What's to come.
