Alice watched the exchange, torn between empathy for Nora's situation for having to work for that cruel Boss. Merrick, Nora's callous boss, leaned in closer to Nora, his voice dripping with indifference. "I don't care about your personal life, Nora. All I care about is that you finish those files. Don't let your family matters interfere with your work." Alice, disguised concern etched on her face, observed Merrick's heartless demeanor. She clenched her fists, feeling powerless to intervene. Deep down, she wished for a way to help Nora, but the oppressive atmosphere in the office stifled any possibility of defiance.
