Most fics don’t linger on the backstory horror for long before shifting to found family, but these few that do treat it like a proper horror premise are worth seeking out. They’re not the most popular, though, so you gotta dig through tags like ‘zombie trauma’ or ‘pre-canon’ to find them. My search left me wishing there was more of this niche.
