“I feel like you're going to be a great addition to this family, dear.” She looked up, her eyes on someone behind me. “Don't you think so, Declan. How long are you going to stand there in silence?” My eyes widened. Wait… what? The chairman was here? I whipped around so fast I thought I might lose my head in the process. Chairman Rivers was the perfect image of an elegant man. He had one hand in his pocket, watching me intently. It was that same unreadable expression Ledger wore sometimes, the kind that made you want to stand up straighter.

Shortly afterwards, the chairman stepped out, flanked by two well-suited men, Rod perceived were his aides. “Good morning, chairman,” Rod greeted after bowing to him The chairman a middle-aged man, heavily bearded and thick to his toes , frowned upon seeing Rod. “A minute please,” he mumbled to a client who was discussing with him before gesturing at Rod to come over. “Join me in my office, Rod Benson.” Rod was down in the deeps but he didn’t want to show it. He forced a smile which barely stayed on his face. When he got into the spacious luxury office of the chairman and saw the thunderous looks on the face of the billionaire, he knew misfortune had located him.

"I am allergic to rose oil! Dad knows about it! And Avril was the one who told the maids to smother my bed in rose oil! Dad was the one who found out about it…" Layla exclaimed, crying pitifully as she nursed her stinging cheek. "You're still trying to lie about it!" Eric roared, suddenly stepping forward and grabbing her by her collar. He tightened his hold on her, lifting her up. And since he was very tall, Layla was almost lifted off the ground.

… When the delivery person brought the flowers, they shouted, "I'm here for Alice! Your roses are here!" Alice raised her head high and jogged toward the delivery person. "That's me!" She took the large bouquet of roses from the delivery person and sniffed at it deeply to show off. "It smells so nice." Her coworkers gathered around. "Who sent them?" "My good friend, Aralyn!" Joanna also saw the flowers in Alice's hands—they were much larger and obviously much more expensive than hers. She grumbled, "It's not even from a man. Why are you so proud of it?"

I opened the door just a few inches and saw a small cardboard box sitting on the carpet with no name and no return address, so I pulled it inside and opened the lid while the others crowded around me to see what was inside. Resting on a bed of white tissue paper was a single rose made of delicate glass and the stem was broken in half so it looked dead and jagged, and I knew immediately that it was a message from Elena Romano because that rose was the symbol of the investment firm we had burned down in Berlin.

Rose went near to him to find out why he was crying by sitting there. When she came near to him she asked him: " Hey, why are you crying?" The hair of Rose was still on her face and covered her face. He gave no reply to Rose and continued eating his rice and burger. The smell of the Chinese rice and chicken burger was so amazing and yummy that Rose did not control herself as she had been hungry from many days, she wanted to eat food with him. But she controlled herself and asked him again the cause of weeping and this time Rose touched his shoulder with her hand so that he would notice and said:

I have to go in and deal with the mayor and town hall.” Rose knew he’d only put his name in for town protector because he couldn’t let it go to Jack. Now he had the position, and he’d have to go in to accept it fully.

He gave me a contagious toothy grin, one I immediately returned. His eyes then drifted to him, clapping him on the back. "This is Dr. Alexander Wood, my good friend. Came here for some books." I nodded. "Wood, this is Rosette. She's here now, so whenever you don't find me here, she's in charge." He nodded too, still looking at me. "Hello Rose, nice to see you again." He smiled down at me, and extended a hand for me to shake, the hand that wasn't holding on to the books.

“He must have been something special.” “He was,” Rose said, and left it there before the memory could take root and drag. Vivian cleared her throat, stepping back. “Right. I’m going to grab my things before I say anything that makes this more awkward.” “Good plan,” Rose said, offering a small smile. “Rose.” Lukes’ voice cut through the noise. She glanced up to see him leaning in the doorway to his office, arms folded, expression unreadable. “My office. Now.” She followed him without a word.

We feel it would be best if you were to step down from your role as Chairwoman. Just until this 'problem' is resolved." Rose felt a searing wave of humiliation wash over her. This wasn't just about money, it was about reputation. "Step down? I built this council!"
