The main characters in 'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children' are such a colorful bunch, each with their own quirks that make the story unforgettable. Jacob Portman is our protagonist, an ordinary kid who discovers his grandfather's wild stories about peculiar children are actually true. Then there's Miss Peregrine herself, the stern yet caring headmistress who can turn into a bird and manages a time loop to protect her wards. The peculiar kids include Emma, who can create fire with her hands, Millard, an invisible boy who's always sneaking around, and Bronwyn, whose super strength comes in handy more often than not.
Other standout characters are Olive, who floats unless weighted down, and Hugh, who has bees living inside him. Enoch can reanimate dead things, which is as creepy as it sounds, and Fiona has a way with plants that’s downright magical. The villain, Barron, is a hollowgast disguised as a human, hunting peculiars for their eyes. What I love about this cast is how their peculiarities aren’t just gimmicks—they shape their personalities and struggles. Ransom Riggs did a fantastic job making each one feel real, flaws and all.
