My cheeks burned and I turned to the window, praying the cool glass would douse the fire licking my skin. I could sense the heat in him too.

Grandma holds my hand, her face full of love, and says, "If work is too hard, then don't work. Grandma still has money, I'll give it all to you later." "No need, Grandma, I have money." I hold Grandma's dry hand and say, "Don't worry about me, Grandma. I will take care of myself. You should take good care of your health and live a long life." I railed against my subconscious. "Mrs. Woods, why is your face so hot? Do you have a fever?" The moment I heard his voice, my inner conflict ceased. How am I supposed to explain to him I don't have a fever but that my face is getting hot from my irrational thoughts instead? Wait, how does he know my face is hot? As soon as I caught sight of his hand, I realized his palm was resting on my cheek. "Are you insane? At once, remove your hand from my cheek." I yelled in a furious tone.

"I don't think this is fever.. are you cold?" I shake my head.. I'm not cold, which is strange. I'm normally very cold when I'm having a fever.. but this time is different.. I'm feeling heat instead. "Tell me, how are you feeling?" She asked. "Hot! I'm having this inner heat, inside me is very hot.. even my breath!" I take her hand and breathe on it to prove my point. "I think you're going into heat!" She said. "Heat?" I asked.

I gasped, whisper–shouting. My cheeks flushed with a heat, a warm, buzzing sensation spreading across my face and down my neck. It was so intense I was sure everyone around could feel it. My heart throbbed, pounding against my chest as if it was trying to break free. That was such an unexpected, bold move and it had sent a bolt of lightning zapping through me.

Her cheeks reddened as she slurped on the noodles, braving the maddening heat to feed her empty belly. He drew a hand and put it on her warm cheek, ‘Let me ease the discomfort for you.’ He smiled as he projected cooling force through their skins. The coldness caused her teeth to ache as if she chewed cubes of ice. She leant back with a heavy gasp and the fork slipped through her fingers. She immediately touched her face where the numbness lingered and found her cheeks were as cold as ice. Suddenly both of her cheeks went cold and the same thing happened; her teeth ached!

My hand slowly came up to my cheek. It was still warm. I frowned. "What the hell is wrong with me?" I muttered, rubbing at my cheeks as if I could somehow erase the heat burning beneath my skin.

Heat flushes into my cheeks, then my entire face with embarrassment now. He pauses in laughter, watching me, probably realizing how much I resemble a peach right now. I duck behind my heavy book immediately. “You okay?” “Yeah, definitely fine. All roses and peaches here.” Someone, please! Staple my mouth shut! “Yeah, you definitely look like one right now actually. It’s cute.” He clearly isn’t helping matters right now, because the heat extends to the tip of my ears and a wave of anxiety, I think, overcomes me quickly.

I forcefully flip him on his side and he groans in pain, almost as if my touch awakens an ache, "Are you okay?" When I cup his cheek, I feel his skin sizzle against mine and I don't mean the exchange of electricity or flaming desires. I mean extremely high temperature that makes him as hot as a cookie that has just been pulled out of the oven. He slowly cracks his eyes open, the luminous orbs glassy and dull at the same time as they peer into mine. He lifts his hand to hold mine that's resting on his cheek, tilting his face a bit to kiss the inside of my palm.

He tilts his head to look at me and catches me staring at him. He smiles and I feel the adrenaline spiking in my body accelerate to a whole new frustrating amount. Why does he have to keep smiling at me like that? Doesn't he have a single inkling of the amount of weariness he is rendering my little heart? I bite my lip and look away from him with extremely red cheeks. I don't need to look at the mirror to know that my cheeks are as red as a tomato. I can feel it. The burning sensation erodes my cheeks making them feel like they are being filled up with an uncontrollable heat energy. Just what the heck is this guy doing to me?
