I open my eyes and find we're down to three girls. Me, Amber, and the head of the cheerleading squad. "Riele Shaman, 248 votes... "She announces, and silence takes up the hall. Except for the high-pitched cheers from her three minions.

A smile tugged at her lips as she recalled her conversation with Adrian about choosing the song together. Back then, Adrian said, "I'm not a vampire, but it sure felt like I waited a thousand years for you." The band was playing A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. Slowly, the doors opened, and the lyrics to the song echoed in her head. ~ "Heart beats fast Colors and promises How to be brave? How can I love when I'm afraid to fall? Riley remembered her apprehensions days before, but just as the lyrics said, Adrian erased all her doubts.

My heart floundered and constricted. “I’m sorry,” she whispered and I let out a shaky breath. I had to press my teeth together to keep from shuddering noticeably. When she turned away, I said, “Would a million dollars do? Or Two? Name it… Name your price. I can transfer the money into your account at this very minute. All I need is a few minutes alone with you,” I said, and heard her friends gasp. I knew if not for the loud music and voices, we would be drawing everyone's attention by now. But I didn’t give a damn!

My heart was beating so fast, I felt faint. “Relax,” he whispers in my ear and runs his palm up my bare back, then the music starts and my eyes fill with tears. I look up at Sebastian in astonishment, “How did you know?” I ask him incredulously and catch his mischievous smile. “I made it a point to find out more about my prospective bride.” He answers me and I blink back my tears, grinning as I do so. We were dancing to my favourite song, ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri.

I said and walked over to Vega. Vega and I were arguing about what song we should sing together. Vega was in a crazy let's party mood, and I was in a lovey-dovey mood. So we weren't getting anywhere. Until I found A Thousand Years by Cristina Perri, this song was perfect, and it described Blaze and me perfectly. I grabbed it and waved it around excitedly in the air. "That's a solo song Lyra. Have you had enough alcohol to do that one?" Vega said and laughed. Vega was seriously trying to rain on my parade tonight.

The sound of shattering glass cut through the private lounge, silencing the laughter and noise instantly. Embarrassed, Lewis Carter, the man who had demanded a kiss sneered darkly. "Ethan Graves, what’s this? You get a kiss, but I don’t? What, is Victoria your wife or something?" Victoria Hale glanced at Ethan with pleading, pitiful eyes. He was just as pale as Deverell himself. To his right, draped in sapphire and shadow, was Isolde Vexmoor. Her hair, black as crow feathers, was pinned in an old style no one dared wear anymore. Her lips were dark, her eyes darker. She said nothing as he entered, but the look she gave him made his fangs itch. While three others occupied the remaining seats: Lady Marcella, a woman draped in deep blue, her fingers adorned with rings that hummed with unseen power.
