Shiloh hadn't wanted everyone knowing about her divorce from Manuel. It was private, and she wanted it to stay that way. But when Tony warmly invited Manuel to stay a few more days, she couldn't keep quiet. "Commander Ruffin, that won't be necessary." Shiloh forced down the emotions rising inside her and kept her voice even. "We're divorced. There's nothing between us anymore." The room went dead silent. Manuel's face darkened. He swallowed his anger.

Peaceful silence enveloped us. "Hey, Scar?" She whispered after a while. "Yes, Megan?" I smiled. "We'll always be sisters right? We'll always have each other's backs?" Her voice was fading, like she was drifting off to sleep. "Yes we will. Always." I whispered as my eyes closed. The world finally faded into blackness.

“Though I won't turn down a quick visit during the day like you used to do, Aaron.” Clarissa turned and strode gracefully, leaving Aaron and Laurel frozen in silence; an uncomfortable silence stifling the chest.

This is bad, I sigh inwardly as I feel myself tighten. “Did we die?” She returns to her seat, her eyes still closed and I chuckle. “You’re not getting away from me that easy missy.” I say, smiling as I ruffle her hair and the silence returns. From the first time we met, silence seems to be her comfort. Maybe getting involved was the best decision I’ve made in my life after all. Smiling to myself I take her hand again and we drive in the warmth of the stillness that envelopes us, before we reach our destination.

Because for once, the silence between us wasn’t heavy. It was full. Alive.

I took careful steps,as the crackle of fire filled my eardrums. There were hushed whispers as I approched that turned into screaming. I stepped in closer, and closer, something compelling me to move forward. When I stopped, the whispers turned into shouting, and I heard a pierced cry hurt my eardrums. "Enough." I commanded, the people coming into view. A grayed angel got down on one knee, a strange looking "human" following suit. I stared at them in disgust, walking to and fro, as my thoughts began to clear.

I needed to do this more often. We ate in silence and did the dishes together. We ate dessert together with a romantic movie she picked in the living room and sat close to each other, our knees touching. She kept fussing with the blanket, but it couldn’t cover us equally and her movements were distracting, so I pulled her down and she landed on my thighs “You’re interrupting my movie”, “Be careful, you’re losing your cold self”, She said, as I pulled the blanket over us. “Being super nice”, She snuggled into me, resting her head on my chest.

"Look. I'm sorry. I'm just really...upset. Okay. I admit it, I am upset." "It's okay. I was being stupid. If you didn't want to talk about something, I should have understood. I'm sorry too." I smiled at him. No matter how infuriating Brian might be, he was understanding and liked that about him. "It's not your fault." I assured him. We had reached quite far away from our group. They were still visible to us. And they hadn't stopped what they were doing before. A comfortable silence settled between us. I looked at the sand below, imagining shapes in it that weren't there.
