Her eyes, silver like the moon itself, locked onto Hana’s. “I am Selene,” she said, her voice soft yet commanding. “The Moon Goddess.” Hana’s fists clenched at her sides, her nails digging into her palms. The title sent a surge of rage boiling inside her, her chest tightening with grief and anger. “The Moon Goddess?” she spat, her voice dripping with venom. “You mean the one who doomed me? The one who let my family die, who made me mate with the same man, the same monster who destroyed everything I loved?”

She called me poor in twelve different languages. “What if Maria sees us?” My eyes darted to the main door, worry gnawing at me. Regina, however, seemed nonchalant as she continued perusing her extensive wardrobe. “Don’t worry about her. She thinks I’m at school right now, and she’s likely entertaining her little kitty party group, going through verses of Silver Moon.” The Silver Moon was the ancient scripture that had stored the chronicles of Selene. I was somewhat surprised to learn that Maria was a devotee of the Goddess Selene, given her rather rigid demeanor.

The door slamming in the distance snapped me from my restless slumber, snapping my head up, I caught a glimmer in the distance as they approached me. The knife glaring in the man’s hand was easy to identify once he was close enough and even though his face remained concealed the tattoo wrapped around his wrist was clearly visible. She reached a gnarled hand toward my cheek and did not touch me, only hovered a thumb above my skin for a second. “You have a thread around you,” she said. “It binds you to things you do not know. The moon will test you.” Her voice was plain and certain. “We must call Selene. She is old but she hears.” Lucien nodded and squeezed my hand just once. “The sooner, the better,” he said. “Tomorrow night is a full moon. We should do it then.” Isolde’s eyes flicked to him for a bare moment and something like a shadow crossed her face. Then she said, “We will need your hair for preparation.”

Stars sparkled within his translucent body, and his voice echoed like the whispers of ancient nebulae. Third was Levana, the Moon Mistress. She appeared as a serene figure, her skin pale and luminous like the moon at midnight. Her hair flowed like silver rivers, and her eyes were deep pools of liquid night, reflecting the phases of the moon. Fourth was Thalassia, the Ocean Keeper. Her form was fluid and ever-changing, shifting from water to ice to mist. Her eyes were the color of the deepest seas, and she exuded a calm yet formidable power, like the tide that shapes the shores.

A low growl forms inside me, but turning to Lyra, I see her giggle a little, and it instantly lightens my mood. I suppose a gruff ship’s captain isn’t the greatest substitute for a full-fledged priestess of the Moon Goddess Temple. I can forgive a few slip-ups today. Finally, Kabir gets it together. “Goddess of the tides, She brings Her spirit in the full moon….” My ship’s captain’s gravelly voice isn’t exactly suited for high poetry, but I appreciate his effort. Pulling it back down I asked him what. "You have the Moon Goddess brand on your chest, it is unique. Take off the shirt so I can start dumping the ice bags. "What is so unique about the Moon goddess? She is the same deity of the witches as she is the wolves," I muttered, peeling off my t-shirt. Grinning, Axel nodded as he poured the ice cubes over me. I sank into the cold water and sighed at the slight relief it was starting to bring me.

They nodded. “I'm sending you back to fulfil your promises, you have the power to do anything when you get back. However, don't take Xerxes' life. Someone else will do that,” the Moon goddess warned in her gentle and alluring ascent, and they bowed. They stretched their hands on them and their spirits became one and left the sea.
