Santa stood on our balcony, a sack slung over his shoulder.
“Ho, ho—” he chuckled, then cleared his throat awkwardly. “Good evening.”
“Who's that?” Mama's voice came from behind me. She appeared at my side—Oluchi right behind her.
“Look!” Oluchi clapped. “It's Santa.”
“Oh! Santa?” Mama exclaimed, surprised laughter spilling out of her.
The man smiled politely, reaching into his sack.
“These are for you,” he said, handing each of them a big box.
Mama accepted the gift, still amused, still surprised. “Ah, thank you. This is unexpected.”
