The conference room at Reyes & Reyes felt smaller than usual. Elena sat at the head of the scarred oak table, laptop open, presentation deck frozen on the Horizon campaign mood board. Across from her, Marcus Chen- founder of the rising streetwear-meets-luxury fashion startup that had been her agency's flagship client for eighteen months, fidgeted with his phone. His usual easy confidence was gone. Replaced by a nervous energy that made the air feel charged. Lila stood by the window, arms crossed, pretending to look at the street below. I take control of my wish for the future. I press my fingertips to his temples. And I dive into his mind. Deeper, deeper, I dive into the dark. I battle past the screams, the twisted memories. Pain flared, sharp and real. Blood fell into the bowl. Caldor nodded. “Good.” He placed his hand over mine. Our blood mixed. The air around us shifted, something ancient. The bowl began to glow faintly. Symbols formed in the blood. I felt it wrap around me. Like chains. Invisible… but real. The contract was sealed. Caldor stepped back. “It is done.”

Charlie gasped, she looped her arm around his waist. He pulled her closer and kissed her forehead. It was beautiful. She was beautiful. Even though all the pictures didn't show their faces, only parts of their faces and some captured facial expressions, she was beautiful. There was one frame that showed her expression of peaked sensation where she lifted her arm and ran her fingers through her hair, her lips parted, her eyes closed, her eyebrows furrowed as she erupted with pleasure. That particular shot hit him hard. He recognized it, it was his, but now it wasn't anymore.

The urn crashed to the floor with a loud thud, sending a cloud of gray-white ashes and broken porcelain flying in all directions. Macie coughed violently from the dusty cloud, quickly grabbed a water glass nearby, and drenched the powdery mess, turning it into a sodden lump. I shot Macie a glare filled with pure loathing. My body surged with a sudden burst of strength, and I wrenched myself free from the bodyguard's grip. I lunged at Macie, hands closing around her throat, my mind screaming for vengeance. Gasping for air, Macie's eyes rolled back as she pleaded for help. "Mr. Jones, save me..."
