This' where the meeting would be held. The small library at the wall is stocked with a few interesting books to use and pass some time. I pick up a book that attracts my attention, from a glimpse of it, I detect that it's a romance fantasy. The gold and red combination of the cover with the stylish golden fonts captivates me, the front has a young girl holding on her palms what looks like a magical spindle, with a glowing light around it. The title goes, "When you're alone." A subscript writes, "A supermodel story of the girl who single handedly achieves the most difficult goals."

“I have a book I think you might enjoy." "What is it about?" I asked him curiously. "Most servants can't read. I usually read for them." "It's a book of short stories. Most are fairy tales- Half-fish people want to be full people. A princess trying to beat her pre-destined fate. Children who are abandoned in the woods try to find their way home. There are several stories within the book." "Sounds interesting," I replied, watching Bart rejoin us. I got up quickly to help him with the trays.

That's why I read a book that made me burst into laughter because it was a whole compendium of fantasy that was undoubtedly a silly thing with meaning. The curious thing was that it had a lot of sensual content, the kind that drove women crazy, but made things much less believable than what actually happened. It was funny to the extreme, but it drove women wild, including Amaya, as if nothing had happened. So, I wondered if she had real experience with it. And she had a twisted way to test it, but I would have to wait until the wedding. One that my sister and Pamela would create, but that undoubtedly would have an unexpected twist that they wouldn't see coming.

“This one weaves mystery and magic, but underneath, it’s a story about trust and power.” Her face softened. “I’ll take it.” As I wrapped the book, another man stepped in, younger, sharp-eyed, dressed in a rumpled suit. His gaze swept the shelves with a hunger I recognized all too well. “Looking for something… thrilling,” he said, voice low. I leaned forward slightly. “Try The Silent Corner, it’s about secrets that change everything.” He nodded, brows furrowed, then murmured, “Secrets change everything.” The bell jingled again. A teenager, headphones around his neck, glanced nervously at the counter. “Uh, do you have any fantasy? Like with dragons?”

Maybe it will help him feel normal again. As far as him being half djinn, he does have magic and can grant a wish if he really feels like it. However, djinn are not like genies. They can be sneaky and deceptive. They can lie and be harmful, so you better be careful what you ask for. He also says it depends on the wish. Last night he asked me what I wished for. "What would you wish for Chloe? Out of all the things in the world. Money, clothes, friends, cars... A lifetime supply of candy?" He joked. That little dimple had me blushing like a rose.

Yes, fantasy. According to her, I was more likely to stumble across a werewolf or a dragon than a man as sweet as the ones who lived in the pages of my romance novels. I remembered Gavin’s reaction — or lack of it — to my joke about werewolves the other day. The man definitely didn’t know what werewolves were. It seemed likely that he wouldn’t read fantasy but did he read at all?

Still I forge on, though I certainly make note of the idea for the future. There are odd things too, like the giant frog telling fortunes for a call-in psychic hotline, or the pirate ship full of ballet-dancing vegetables. Others simply make me smile, like Gloria’s craving-driven fantasy of a real-life candy land, or my own childhood wish of riding a dragon as it flies through the air on great leathery wings.

I fold my legs beneath me, and bring out my phone. A book can keep my awake so I surf the internet. Quickly I see a lot of fantasy books, but I’ve never really gravitated towards those. I don’t know what pushes me though. Maybe I’m just tired of being oblivious or my mother’s thesis, or the strange recurrences, I click on the first book I see and buy it. It takes only a second. I scroll past the forward and settle on the first chapter.
