So I did the only thing I could.
I straightened my spine, lifted my chin, and forced out a laugh.
"You must be mistaken, Alpha Cedrick," I said, my voice smooth, unwavering. "I don’t know what you think you’ve discovered, but you’re wrong."
For a brief moment, just a fraction of a second, uncertainty flickered across his face.
Good.
Doubt was my ally.
I could still get out of this.
"You expect me to believe that?" Cedrick’s voice was quiet, but laced with something dangerous.
