“Amulet’s like that are dangerous, and using them is just as bad.” “I won’t have to use it,” Corvu’s voice responded, “, have you heard how much Daemonaria are willing to pay for an amulet like that?” “What color was it?” “It was an amethyst.” “Humph.” The barkeep sounded pleased, “Keep that one close. You never know where she got that amulet from. It might be why she’s here. Just see if she’ll give it to you.” They were after the amulet? It was just like Patricia said. She was human and understood that Daemonaria would want this amulet, and that included Corvu. He was only being nice to me to get to the amulet.

I stumbled back into the bedroom, my hands shaking as I grabbed the small enchanted pouch from the nightstand. It was empty. Completely empty, except for a tiny pile of fine, silver dust at the bottom. I poured the silver dust into my palm. The last remains of sixty-six moonlight crystals. Every single one was gone. "No… no, this can't be..." my voice trembled. The memory hit me like a tidal wave. Our mating night, six years ago. Elysia’s eyes were filled with happy tears. "These sixty-six crystals," she’d said, "they mean I can forgive you sixty-six times. But if they ever run out, I'm leaving."

"No, there's another way, but it depends on how much you can handle." My breath caught. "What do you mean?" "What will you give me, Crystal? Mind or body?"

This was a punishment. The man who claimed to be Crystal's butler said, "Alpha had a message for me to pass on to you, saying that he's figured out and remembered all the 'care' you've taken of Crystal all this time... Crystal is kind and forgiving, but he's the complete opposite. "

"Still lovely as always." "Come on, it's not that bad. Make yourself look used to this place. You're the guy who built this, remember?" "Can't remember what I'm not, girl," Claros - Vayu said, still grimacing. The two took their casual, yet purposeful stroll on the Orichalcum Lane. Everywhere they turned to, there were always an alchemist who gave Claros - Vayu a warm greetings or offers for their new stock. Tirana found it sad that someone as revered as Claros, the Master Inventor, turned out to be scheming for the enemy side, and these people have no idea.

She slept most of the next day. Not the restless, fitful sleep she had endured since the pregnancy pains began, but a deep, heavy slumber that worried me more than any scream could have. The healer assured me it was necessary—that whatever power Krystal had drawn on during the attack had drained her far beyond what her body was used to holding. “She did not merely defend herself,” Elder Maeve told me quietly. “She awakened something.” I hadn’t left Krystal’s side. Not when the healers came and went. Not when my council demanded answers. Not even when reports of the rogue interrogation arrived at my door.

Once again, it struck him how much she had to learn about her heritage and birthright. Grabbing a cloth, he turned and leaned against the vehicle, wiping the grease from his fingers. "Not a species. More of a gift or an ability, depending on who you ask. A weapon alchemist is someone who’s been bestowed with an ancient calling to forge weapons of power. They’re rare. In fact, to my knowledge, there hasn’t been one in over two decades." Pearl held her hands out in front of her, looking at them like she’d never seen them before. Then her wide eyes met his. "You’re telling me that even my hobby, my career, is Lycan?"

I didn’t want that to change. When Ricka kept shut, Crystal resumed walking, pretentiously waving her cane on the floor as a guide. To everyone, Crystal was fully blind, but I was different. I was the one who caused her condition, so I should know. No matter what happens to a dragon’s eyes, it can still see people through their heat signatures, but for some reason, Crystal decided to hide that secret. Crystal. Crystal. Crystal. Every fucking time. That was all I thought about half the time she was present. I hated it. I lifted the chalice before me. “A toast to greatness and my soon-to-be Luna, who would make it easier to rule.”

KAYLA. “The crystal is what they call an amethyst, but this one is a little different.” “It could have been doped with something by the witches since a very long time, designed to only recognize the chosen ones” Lucien said and it had been half an hour since we got back home but there was still an arch between my eyes. He’d only come back after wearing on some clothes, more determined to prove all of this to me. But let it be known that, it would take more than a century old book about hybrids and supernatural for it to really sink in.

When a werewolf is in human form, they have the unique monobrow that's meet in the middle, curved fingernails, low-set ears and a swinging stride that I noticed with Chris and everybody else except on Crystal. “How about Crystal? Is she also like you?” I asked him. “I don't know,” he replied. “All I can say about Crystal is that she is the only one of them all. God gave her undefined powers exactly when she turned sixteen, and until now, it is still a mystery to us what that is …” Is it maybe because she's their Alpha? “What does it mean to her to be Alpha? Why does Themedeus seem so eager to get that position?” I asked more.
