I follow her and smile when I see the blue and pink mini cupcakes. “You baked?” I ask. “With Rosemarie’s help,” she admits. “It’s going to take a while before I get the hang of it.” She grins at me. “Taste one.” “One isn’t going to be enough,” I warn her. “You know I have a sweet tooth.” “That’s why I made a dozen. I whispered. I wandered back to the living space and collapsed onto the semi-circle sofa. It was large enough to seat eight, but I folded myself into a corner, tucking my legs under me. I grabbed the remote and flipped through until I found something comforting, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War. Something about anime made everything feel less heavy.
