Not another one.” But before I could take a step forward, Blue’s body flared with a soft blue aura, her power rippling outward in a pulse that cut through the fog, the mist hissed, twisting and then dissolving completely, leaving behind a stretch of empty ground.

The formation holds. Lucian works through the center of the advance with the hybrid power burning at full output, the gold and red aura visible from a distance significant enough that the revenants in a thirty-foot radius destabilize simultaneously, their animating force disrupting when it contacts something the blood magic was not designed to encounter. The bodies drop and the formation advances through the gap and holds the new ground and the process repeats. It works. For a while, it works. Then the amplification relic activates.
