He keeps texting, funny memes, questions about my favorite movies. I stare at the message for a long time. My thumb hovers over the keyboard but I don’t type a reply. I leave him on read.

My lips curved into a smile as I picked up my phone, texting him. ‘Hi, fiancé' I typed, clearing it out. That’s very forward and cheesy. I mean, nobody says that. ‘Hi, sweetie.' I cringed at it. I’ve never texted him asking about his night.

If I didn't, I wouldn't have given him my real number. ‎Breathing in deeply, I lifted my phone up to my face and read his messages again. ‎Damn, I hope she does. ‎You're fucking beautiful, by the way x ‎This time, I allowed myself to smile and embrace the warmth which filled my stomach at his words. I could picture him, shirtless in his bed, phone glowing against his face, thumb hesitating before he decided not to push. I typed slowly ; “Good morning. I couldn’t send you a message last night, I literally slept on my couch 😂”

I read his text. "Can't wait to see you. I love you honey." I smiled wider and happily replied to him. "We're on our way," I typed on my cellphone and immediately sent my message to his number. "Who is that? You seem to be in love with your text partner," Noah asked me. I looked at him and smiled widely. "Because Aira is funny. I said that we both have a date, he said that I should enjoy it," I said. He smiled broadly at me.

I quickly pick it up and my lips curve into an involuntary smile as I read the text from Gavin. [Good morning, beautiful] I quickly type... I’m glad he was there to challenge her and put her in her place. I’m glad he is even talking to me to know how I feel. I was about to drop my phone back on the bedside table when I got another text from him. I actually thought the conversation was over, I guess he still has something else to say to me.
