The stranger’s smirk widened. “Little Alaric, always so serious, how are you doing?”
“I’m fine,” Alaric bit out, his jaw clenched. “What do you want, Damian?”
Damian either didn’t notice or didn’t care about Alaric’s barely concealed hostility. His gaze flicked to me, his sharp eyes practically gleaming with interest. “I just wanted to introduce myself to your lovely fiancée.” He stepped forward smoothly, his hand outstretched toward me. “Damian Ashford. My family is quite close to your fiancé’s here, so I suppose that makes us family too.”
