Chapter 2 Alex’s POV “What’s that one?” I asked again, my finger still hovering near his on the trackpad, heart pounding from more than just the way his hand gripped my thigh. “Real Story? She rolled her eyes and went back to her book. It was a response that Damian expected. He watched her read with so much intrigue. At least she had the sense to read. He stole a glance at the spine and saw that The Kama Sutra was written on his. His body shivered pleasantly. It was his favorite book and she was reading his best volume. He smiled slyly to himself. " Just call me if you need anything. No, he wasn't going to call his mother or any of his friends. He left a message for Merilee that he would be on deck and picked up Thunder struck, the book he'd he had brought and tried to read on the plane. At that time, he was unable to concentrate. Matt had gone with the Fallons to Damien's reading and had been drawn to from the passage Damien had read. He was about to buy the book when Theresa stopped him.

Somehow, I couldn’t quite envision Hades being that cold-hearted. “We’ve been outside long enough to satisfy them all,” Damien’s voice is filled with amusement, “I think we can go safely back inside now.” He puts his hand on my lower back as he steers me inside, acting like the perfect gentleman. As we walk back into the living room, all eyes turn to us. Aeress looks excited, Jackson is neutral, and Hade’s look is so chilling that I half expect Damien to fall to the floor dead and burst into flames. Alpha Daxton looks unfazed and merely greets both of us.

Besides, reading to her could help ease the monotony of just sitting there and offer some form of excitement, something they both seemed to be lacking in these days. Damien opened the book, and began reading. He had picked up a random book on the bookshelves, and it had turned out to be the first book in the Harry Potter series. As Damien read about the world of muggles and Harry’s introduction to Hogwarts, the light outside started to wan as a scatter of clouds covered the sun momentarily.

He just shut the door behind him and began gesturing into the room, his eyes dragging across every inch of her body. Isadora’s body quivered from within, the look in his eyes stirring up something rough and dangerous within her. But she shut it out. Because… she couldn’t be dripping or desiring him again, like he and his brother didn’t fucking ruin her body like she was theirs to greedily ravish. “So, you are into stuff like this?” Damian asked, raising the book that she was reading. It was a dark romance, and the title was enough introduction about what the book contained.

He crossed the room and crouched in front of Beth's chair so he was at Ryan's level, and he said, very seriously, "Is that a good book?" "Yes," said Ryan, with the absolute authority of someone who has never doubted his own opinion. "Can I see?" Ryan considered him for a moment those crimson eyes, Asher's eyes, making a two-year-old's comprehensive assessment of a new person. Then he handed the book over. Damian sat down on the floor of the storage room, his injured shoulder and his battle-blood and his Alpha authority arranged in a cross-legged position in front of a two-year-old, and read the book.

I found out later that Damian could see the reader comments too. It happened the next morning. New York was blue with early light, and Damian was wrapped around me from behind, lazy and satisfied in a way that made him look nothing like the untouchable heir everyone feared. I asked him. He looked at me with raised eyebrows. “I want to have a visit with my sister. Surely you don’t have to monitor every word I say. I promise, it won’t be that interesting.” Before he could answer, footsteps echoed on the marble floors. We all turned as Damian entered the room. He wore a T-shirt and jeans, the V-neck clinging to his sculpted body. His cobalt blue eyes locked on mine, and my heartbeat quickened, my body suddenly tingling, nipples tightening, every hair standing on end.
