"She is aware of our presence." The outlaw laughs. "She's always aware." Xander snarls. "I'll tear you to pieces if you touch her." The rogue smirks. “You can try.” Then, all hell breaks loose. They attack. Claws and fangs glimmer in the darkness. Xander shifts mid-air, crashing into the first rogue. Damon eliminates three in a flash, moving like a shadow. With trembling hands, I seize a dagger. I won't be weak, though. No more.

But he didn’t stop. He didn’t flinch. He stood between her and the gun aimed at his heart. Harrison fired again. Jackson staggered but didn’t fall. “Kevlar,” he hissed under his breath. “Cheap shot.” Harrison tilted his head. “Then let’s test the parts it doesn’t cover.” Savannah lunged from behind the beam, grabbing a fallen metal pipe and swinging it with every ounce of strength she had. Harrison ducked the blow, but her momentum forced him back a step. Jackson seized the opening, landing a hard punch to his father’s jaw.

As my eyes adjusted, I could make them out. Oh, thank god. It was them. Damon, Colt and Blaze! Travis’s biker brothers! The actual reason I hadn’t been mugged or worse a hundred times over…! The punks puffed up, ready for a fight. “This is a private party, assholes,” the leader spat, pulling a switchblade. “Piss off.” Damon took another step into the light. I saw the moment they recognized him and their bravado shattered into a million pieces as the switchblade wavered. Mikey took a step back, his weaselly face pale.

Not fear. Trust. Hale gestured sharply. The guards released Xander and stepped back. “On your feet,” Hale ordered. Xander stood slowly. The collar glowed brighter. “Begin.” The punishment wasn’t a fight. It was endurance. Shockwaves of controlled suppression rolled through Xander’s body at intervals, forcing his muscles to lock, his breath to stutter. He didn’t cry out. Not once. Each wave hit harder than the last, and still he stayed upright, shoulders squared, gaze unwavering.

From behind Parker, Jaxon sprinted forward while Gavin raced to meet them from the back. Their pack giant, Parker, lashed out at the thug wielding the needle, but instead of moving away from the swing, the rogue stood there and took it, the force of it propelling him into a heap on the ground at Bailey's feet.

With one last look at my phone, I stepped out of the car parked in front of the warehouse. Ralph, my chauffeur and trusted bodyguard, opened the door for me, and I got down. Then I walked towards the warehouse’s entrance, where some men stood guard. As I approached the door, the men stood still, bowing, and Xavier walked out of the warehouse, greeting me with a warm handshake. “Dante Guerra! A.K.A. the Grim Ripper!” He said, pulling me into a shoulder bump. Then we both shared a brief laugh. Xavier Ajello used to be a childhood friend. Despite his age, he never rejected me because I was an illegitimate child.

If I wasn't evil before then I was the devil now. X smiled widely, “I knew you were fierce, it runs in the family. My name is Xander by the way, you can call me that. And I see the way he is now, acting all changed but don't be fooled, he is a cunning bastard. But in case you waver, I want this document to be a reminder of what he has done” He pulled out a file from his suitcase and passed it to me.
