She was a sweet, chestnut-colored mare with big, curious eyes and a habit of nudging my back like she expected me to sneak her a treat. I had no idea what her name was, but she felt like a Daisy, so that’s what I called her as we made our way down the winding dirt road toward Dusty Creek.

But the moment Malikha touched his face gently, the stallion surprisingly lowered his head calmly. “Hi, Dante… my name is Malikha,” she greeted softly. Aidan smiled quietly as Malikha beamed with happiness after successfully touching the horse. Then, as usual, he grabbed her hand again and pulled her toward the training grounds he had mentioned earlier. “Dante is so adorable!” Malikha said enthusiastically, still unable to stop smiling. “Careful,” Aidan replied casually. “He’s not a kitten. He’s a wild horse who once broke one of his caretaker’s legs.”

“You say that like you don’t enjoy the killing too, brother.” I didn’t answer. Instead I swung up onto my own horse—a dark grey war charger bred for endurance and strength—and raised one hand to signal the advance. The gates opened smooth and silent, and we rode out in tight formation, hooves thundering against the stone bridge that spanned the palace moat before we turned north toward Blackthorn Ridge.

There were horses that ran freely with long, shiny manes—two red and one midnight black. “Yeah.” “What are their names?” “Tennessee, the black one. Dutch Warmblood. Alaska is Akhal-Teke, and Cascade, the long-haired Arabian horse.” “They are beautiful.” “But high maintenance than me.” He chuckled. We sat on the couch, facing the beautiful view. I couldn’t help but sigh, grateful for how my contract marriage gave me peace of mind. “You okay?” He looked at me. I nodded, unable to form a word. He put his arm around me and pulled me closer to him. Then he planted a kiss on top of my head, and then we watched the view in silence.

Bradley's voice was so broken that I could feel it tugging at my heart strings while my wolf was howling in delight at the prospect of mating with Blake when we got the hell out of here so she was as good as useless right now. He stood on his hind legs, grabbed the head of the mist and pinned it down. A golden light began to emit from him. The rest of the pack backed away, afraid of being touched by the light. The Gamma became whole again under Damien's paws, and Alex spoke in what seemed like a roar.

The frightened animal flipped out of his hole before skittering back underground. Christopher had been watching too and a burst of laughter sprang out of him. It was really funny, but I didn't want to worry Adam or Joanna. "Stay here." I urged my horse forward without waiting for the others to respond. Adam, who seemed to be in shock, still had his bow cocked and aimed in the dragon's direction. "Put that away," I shouted as I zipped passed him. I didn't wait around to see if he obeyed. It was highly unlikely. The trees thinned out the closer I got to the clearing. My horse also became more skittish, slowing down, its ears flicking back and forth.
