The sound of notifications saturates her phone, and she turns the volume down.
“Good grief, is it always this intense?” she asks John.
John, the nearly fifty-year-old gentleman, but athletic and military bearing, just smiles.
“I think, rather, it has something to do with you,” he assures her. “There's a wealthy place my wife and I usually go to, but it's in the Bronx.”
