Quinn, you go get a shower, and I’ll pick out an outfit for you. Summer gave up all our instructions then clapped her hands when we didn't all move fast enough. I ran up the stairs and into the shower, and I couldn't help thinking about how the last time I was in this shower, I was terrified to meet my mate, thinking it was Xavier, and now I could be wait to mate and mark with him. And as if that was not enough, I got kidnapped, and I lost sight of my dreams. So, I didn't want that for my baby. I wanted him to live his life fully. Chase his dreams and achieve them. We offer free juice and photos on the side.” “When is the day?" “Pardon?” Valentina looked over at her like she was staring at a grade two child. “When is the fest?” Colleen had no idea so she looked to Tobias for help and thankfully, he answered. “21st of this month. A few superstars like Johnny Crane, and Naomi Statham will be in attendance. I would recommend you get a summer hat for the occasion but unfortunately, we’re sold out. So, how about a tee shirt?”

The third girl, Dew, with her white hair, was calm, moving with a slow, collected authority that belonged entirely to Rex. "Danni! Stop dragging that toy!" Debbie shouted from the stone patio, her hands resting on her hips as she watched her daughters cause absolute chaos on the lawn. "If you break it, nobody is getting a new one!" She turned around, walking into the grand kitchen area where a massive pot of spicy stew was simmering on the stove. She was trying to finish up with the cooking so her husbands would have something to eat before she could finally attend to the massive pile of pack files waiting on her desk.

The room melted into a chorus of awws. This is my life now, full of family, laughter, and love. And it all began in a summer like this one, two years ago. Today, another summer has brought me another miracle, and I know in every part of me that there’s no better forever than the one I’ve found here, with Liam and our children. My home. My heart. Yet somehow… my mind still drifted toward a stubborn eighteen-year-old girl with pink bandages and reckless eyes. Ava. Even after three days away from her, she still found a way into my thoughts like she belonged there. And that was the real problem. I exhaled sharply and grabbed the whiskey bottle from the table, pouring another glass. Outside, Pasadena glittered beneath the night sky. Beautiful. But inside the hotel suite, I already knew the truth. This summer was becoming dangerous in ways I never expected.

The older woman stood framed in the doorway, her cold blue eyes narrowing at the scene before her. The room was a chaotic blur, clothes on the floor, tangled sheets, and her son and Summer leaping apart like two guilty teenagers caught sneaking cookies from the jar… if cookies were each other. Alexander’s eyes went wide. “Mom!” Katherine screamed, “Alexander De Rossi! What on earth—!” Summer yelped, diving for the blanket like her life depended on it, mumbling apologies that made no sense. Alexander was scrambling for his shirt, trying to make words come out, but Katherine was already in full meltdown mode.

"O-Of course. We're friends." Satisfied with my response, Bethany finally let go of my arm and followed me inside. I opened the door, but the office was pitch-black. "Dad, these are the friends I mentioned, the ones coming to work here for the summer," I said cautiously. Before I could introduce them, they pushed past me and crowded into the room. "Hello, Mr. Parker. We're here for the summer jobs. May I know what the pay is like? Is ten thousand dollars a month okay? Oh, and I'm not really into factory work. Can I get an office job instead?"

_________________ For the next few days, I have too much to do to think about why Cory's been avoiding me, or having dinner with Noah, or potentially taking him to my bed. We are only down to two weeks before Summer ends. So much has happened. Good and bad. Mostly good. Friendships were made, secrets were revealed, hearts were broken, tears and blood were shed, and most importantly, the relationship with my sister is back to normal. At least she made that clear when we talked last night for two hours. I found out she got a Summer job at a popular ice-cream shop in the state, and will continue to work there till she saves enough money for her class' trip to Europe next year.
