I muttered after the second knock. The door was pushed open and a delivery man walked in. I immediately recognized him, he was the same guy that had delivered the car to me when I got employed by Mr. Blackwood. “Hi Ma’am, nice to see you again.” He said with a small smile as he strolled in. I returned a warm smile of my own. “Hey… is there a delivery for me?” I asked as my eyes scanned the content of the box in his hand. “Yes, these are for you.” he replied and then he brought out a flower vase and an envelope.

The organization could not have survived until now if its members were so incompetent. “I bet someone must’ve hired him to do this, and he doesn’t know anything,” Austin spoke thoughtfully, holding a cup of tea. Soon after, news came from Cameron’s end. The outcome of the interrogation showed they were right—the delivery man was just a food deliverer who had accepted an order. The sender’s name, address, and even phone number were fake, so they could not gain any helpful information. Still, it proved their speculation was correct.

Her bare feet barely made a sound as she crossed the space to the front door. Peering through the peephole, she saw a delivery man. Young, clean—shaven and smiling. Relief washed over her in an unsteady wave. She lowered the lamp and cracked the door open. "Good morning, ma'am" he greeted with a bright smile. Mira only nodded. He handed her a beautifully wrapped box, then passed her a delivery book. She signed with shaky fingers. Another polite smile and he turned and walked away. Mira darted her eyes around the quiet neighborhood before slamming the door shut.
